Franks Highlanders 3 month Update

Today marks three months of nearly constant wear M-F and a 14 day fire assignment. Pretty happy with my decision to go with Franks. Went with a stock size and custom build based on my Whites. Dealt with some bite over the ankle but fiddling around with the tongue and false tongue solved that I think. Previous boots are Whites Smokejumpers and Bakers Fireline (built by whites). Both were and still are fantastic boots and I’ll probably have the whites rebuilt for a second time this winter.

OG Wolverine still crushing it

This might be the 6th build of this bike. I’ve got two Wolverines and this is my original and favorite. The other is a SS. Hot and smoky on today’s ride.

Why red accents?

I kind of feel like some companies have beat the red accents to death in their off road packages. Jeep, Nissan, and GM (maybe others too) can’t seem to let it go. I can’t be the only one that’s over it. Black that stuff out!

No judgment if you like it, just looking over the new generation truck photos and the seatbelts and seats got me.

Franks Highlanders T2

My new work boots arrived yesterday. My feet are fairly “normal” so went with my whites size of a 9D after consulting with the fine folks at Franks and these fit like a glove. Sort of a custom build, walnut leather rough/smooth combo, vibram honey sole and added pull tabs. I’m pretty stoked on these.

Picked up these Bakers x Whites Fireline a while back. Still going strong but it feels like these just don’t have the arch support that my old smokejumpers have. Got a pair of Franks Highlanders on order. I work as a forester and don’t go through boots quite like I used to but love a good pair of PNW boots.
