First floor bathroom fan duct venting options

I’m trying to vent out a ceiling fan through the sidewall. Initially I was going to wall vent in the bathroom but that was before I realized I had lowered ceilings.

The second picture shows 6” clearance. The stud is indicated in red. The second floor joists are above the old ceiling (I checked with a bore scope).

The ceiling frame is a 2x4.

My question is can I make a hole for a 4” duct to vent out in this space? Do I need blocking to fortify the ceiling frame?

Also I might have to take a piece of the wall frame too since 2x4 only gives 3.5”clearance. I’ll need another 1/2”

Or do i just do a through the wall vent?

Any suggestions or advice appreciated

Wrong items delivered - too big to return

I recently ordered baseboards online which are 8 feet long. The ones delivered were the incorrect baseboards (different pattern and price).

I called online support and they keep insisting I return it in person. I would love to but unfortunately I don’t have a truck to fit it. They won’t arrange for a pick up return.

My closest Home Depot refuses to handle this because it’s an online order and I didn’t purchase through the store.

Any advice? I’m tired of speaking with customer service. Should I do a chargeback?

Clearance items showing in stock for local HD but can never find in stores

I usually just order from HD online but from time to time I see clearance items that I need.

I've been trying to pick up some clearance items from HD for the past half year for future home projects. However, every time I check my local HD, I would see some showing that there's inventory. But when I show up in store, I can't even find one.

One store showed 52 in inventory, so I asked an employee and he told me that this item hasn't been sold in the past half year. Next store showed 3 available on website but could not find any in store even with an employee's help.

Is the inventory not being updated? I've looked up and down the bays. I've tried looking for boxes with same SKU above the bays and nothing. What's the deal? Am I just wasting my time?

Repair flange ok?

The attached pvc flange isn’t broken. But can I add a repair flange on top anyways? I’ll clean up the original flange before adding it.

Should I change both the 3/8 Iron pipe to 1/2 copper?

Midst of changing sink vanity, I noticed that I have some iron pipe stub outs.

Is the corrosion on the iron pipes due to 2 different metal (copper into iron)?

Initially I only planned to relocate the right stub out due to vanity offset.

Any issues with leaving the left pipe stub out and replacing right only? Or should I just replace both?

Thanks

Bathroom flooring - rip out old hardwood flooring or lay on top

First time homeowner trying to save money doing DIY. Initially, I just wanted to replace sink vanity. Now I want to do the flooring.

I’m trying to install new lvp flooring (pic4). I’m not sure if I should install on top or replace the hardwood flooring with plywood.

Certain pieces are raised probably due to moisture so it is not flat throughout. But for the most part it is fairly flat. I have an orbital sander and a shop vac. I also have a carbide scraper.

Now my question is should I remove this and put a new plywood sheet in its place. Then do the bathroom flooring (using lvp in 4th picture).

Or do I just scrape and sand it then lay the lvp.

Im willing to remove the toilet. But the tub is cast iron so I can’t do that yet.

I will do a better renovation later on but I’m trying to do the best I can at the moment.

Any suggestions are welcome. Thanks!

How to handle a fence repair with a tree on fence line?

I’m a first time homeowner and I need some guidance on handling this. I’ll add some more pictures in comments.

My neighbor wants to repair the fence. I also want to repair the fence. I believe the fence with the wire is my fence and the fence with picket is neighbors.

Further down is the real issue. It is between our pools and the fence is leaning. There are two tall trees causing the fence to lean.

I want to help with the repair as well (willing to chip in).

My concerns are:

  1. Do I need a surveyor? Especially for the area with the trees causing the lean.

  2. The trees should be removed for a better repair, correct?

  3. For some reason, the fence layout changes near the pool. Behind the visible fence, is the metal wire fence which is all around my property. Safe to assume that’s my fence. Weird part is that, a fence is built in front of it (further into my property).

  4. Anything I need to clarify with neighbor before proceeding?

Aquaphalt - remove all broken debris?

First time using aquaphalt6.0

Instructions were to clean the area of application. I’m definitely going to remove the vegetation and dirt. But what about the gravel stones? Should I remove all the loose debris (ie sand)?
