RHOP S6 Reunion

From what I saw about Nicki Minaj hosting the reunion, none of the opinions were good.. but I loved her segment??? 😭 obv everyone has their own opinion, but I didn’t see even one comment where someone enjoyed her there. I think she met them where they are tbh. They were starstruck so I’m sure that factored into their cookie-cutter responses with her, but I don’t feel like she was trying to be disrespectful or rude to any of the ladies. I really feel like she asked stuff we wish Andy would/could ask.. also, ppl were saying she was biased & she came with her opinions from a viewer’s standpoint. Does Andy not do the same thing? We know Bravo has favorites.. was it ethical to let her host knowing she might be more hostile toward the women she didn’t care for? No, but hell look how Andy was treating Monique at the S5 reunion.. tbh she was asking shit I damn sure was interested in: why the hell did Ashley stir up some drama in place of her lack of a storyline? Why was Candiace so scared to be put on the spot if she is in fact an artist?? & everybody speculates about Juan & ass grabber’s suspect relationship, so I think it was good for her to ask for some clarity about how Robyn feels about her husband continuing a friendship with a man that she knows is attracted to her husband! I’m like 5 yrs late idc this was my first time watching that reunion since I rage quit after the way they treated Monique 😭 but I loved her hosting lmaooo & I love how they had everything pinkaaa in her honor, so cute..

Before u share ur opinions with me about NM, irdgaf so save ur finger action. I’m talking about her being a great host, nothing else!

Ashley defended Michael too hard S3-4

I always wonder how women can confidently stand by their man when they are accused of sexual harassment or assault by someone else.. watching the season 4 reunion and I agree with Karen when she told Ashley that it’s scary to see that she believed Michael was 100% innocent. The likelihood that someone would be repeatedly accused of sexual assault & each time it’s false is slim to none. I also don’t think the level of severity changes whether Michael assaulted a man or a woman because it’s harmful period. The dude was essentially at his wife’s place of work serially sexually assaulting people (allegedly)! Wtf!!! & she stood tall against the whole group for him. Then he didn’t even think she was owed any type of public acknowledgement, after she got dragged by association all season.. not even a damn thank you.

We are aware of the statistics regarding sexual assault vs actual reporting, so I think at the very least, a spouse should always be questioning the mere possibility of occurrence if they were ever in that situation. I’ve never experienced that, but as a victim of sexual assault myself, God forbid I was ever with someone that was accused of that, I’m not sure I could continue the relationship in the same (or probably any) capacity until & unless their innocence was proven. The track record of men and patriarchy being on their side doesn’t give me enough mental security to blindly believe that my man would never in life assault someone. In a perfect world, none of us would be with someone capable of violating someone in that way, but that just isn’t realistic. As a woman I really think it’s probably more harmful for us to be associated with a man experiencing something like this than it is for him to actually face any consequences, if he even faces any! Your man could attack someone & they’ll get on you quicker & longer for supporting him than they’d get on him for the attack! Smh just a very bad situation to be in overall. Michael fckn suckssssss dawg

I do not like Robyn..

Seriously why has Robyn been able to be on the show for multiple consecutive seasons while being broke, unmarried & entirely unentertaining??? She is such a follower and puppet for Gizelle. She doesn’t even have to have a personal issue with someone, if Gizelle does that’s enough. Like srsly she is so annoying.. not fabulous, not funny, not original, like just a big bowl of nah .. she’s gotten away with displaying aggression & inciting some type of violence on more than one occasion, but she is allll about “women empowerment”.. she’s just so phony & boring ugh

Ashley vs. GEB & Charisse

I’m doing a rewatch & I’m wrapping up S2. I loveeee how Ashley stood her ground against Gizelle, Robyn & Charisse about Robyn and her smokescreen about Juan and their relationship.. These women are all up in one another’s business — they ALL got on Karen’s ass about her house and her finances. Ashley was not letting up on Robyn & she maintained her composure every argument. I do think there were times that she overstepped, but she never backpedaled when she was called out.

Also, I appreciate her not letting them patronize her because she’s younger than them. I often feel like older women think their age alone gives them authority to belittle younger women, which is false. If age were synonymous with intelligence, growth, etc., life would look different for the majority of us. Anyone with eyes could see contrary to what Robyn was saying, her and Juan were not separated because “she had a wall up” .. Let anybody else had been lying about their relationship or had any fuzzy details around it, it would have been a point of conversation at some point or another.

First Time Watcher.. when does it get good?

I’m here from the melanated side of RH (ATL & Potomac 😂), and I asked for some suggestions about which franchise to try next.. BH, SLC & NJ were popular sooo I started with BH. I came across that scene of Kim Richards vs the whole table & I figured I’d stick with this one, but I haven’t really been thrilled as of yet.. I’m still on S1, so I’m trying to be realistic, but I think I have high expectations because RHOA had me crying laughing from the first episode & Potomac is also hilarious right off the bat to me. Soooo, does anybody know when it picks up? By it, I do mean the drama lmao!

I miss Miss America.. sorry Miss USA

Can’t believe I’m saying this, but I want Ms. Moore back on screen 🤣😩 like the show is just not the same without her. I didn’t realize how much she brought to the show all these years despite her shade & vitriol! Flaws & all, Kenya is good tv.

Shamea was better as a friend of ..

I’m on S15 at the very beginning of her & Porsha falling out. I’ve seen a lot of discourse about their friendship & I also don’t think Porsha was ever that great of a friend to Shamea. But are we not seeing that Shamea was ok with whatever their dynamic was until she became a housewife???? The whole world been calling Shamea Porsha’s lapdog for umteen seasons, saying Porsha was not the same friend to Shamea that she was to her & the first person she expresses her feelings about it with is ANGELA? Bye. I think Porsha is right to feel thrown off because it was completely left field.. Again, not denying that their friendship may have never been equal, but who is responsible for staying in any relationship they don’t feel valued in besides the two in the relationship? Chile pls.. Shamea talking abt some she would never put their friendship in a place to be questioned by the other ladies. But the whole reason ya’ll falling out is because u let the group put the battery in ur back about ur friendship instead of owning & voicing ur opinions on ur own. I didn’t even care for her as a friend of, but I absolutely could live without seeing her as a housewife again. She’s like Cynthia Bailey Jr.

Nene Leakes Appreciation!

I’m on my 3rd rewatch of RHOA and I have to say, Nene never fails to be my favorite housewife every time. I truly believe within the context of reality TV, she is a powerhouse. Flaws and all, you can never deny the influence and charisma that she possesses. But I’m really making this post because I see so many different opinions about Nene and I just want to add my little input.

First, I think Nene is deeply misunderstood. She is an unambiguous Black woman, she’s tall & shapely with afrocentric features that were never really popularized on networks like Bravo, let alone celebrated. She was estranged from her mom, then the first season we learn WITH her that the father who raised her was not her biological dad, and finally, that she conceived her first child amid an abusive relationship that she was in since she was a teenager. In addition to her sharing that she was a stripper, I read that she was attending Morris Brown College but dropped out due to becoming pregnant with Bryson. Also reminder of how Sheree brought up her past repossessed cars & stuff during their argument S4, so she clearly struggled. I said this to set the scene for my opinion, sorry lol!

With all that, she was the first housewife in Atlanta that actually was and stayed married for the duration of her being on the show. I don’t count the divorce because they remarried in less than 4 years, haha! Only housewife from this group whose marriage actually ended in death. She put the Housewives franchise & Bravo on the map. In her time on RHOA she also managed to land a role on Glee, Broadway, and other notable opportunities that we’ve watched a lot of the cast members downplay from time to time.

She never stepped outside the lines of what was accepted for TV. No physical altercations, bringing up children or family, etc. I personally believe she had the type of situations you expect to see on reality TV, and she had the appropriate amount of shade and disputes for the show’s dynamic. We only even see her cry maybe a handful of times from S1 to 11, and S11 we know what she was dealing with. Tbh, I saw Kandi cry and threaten to get violent more than Nene ever has. But I always feel like no matter what, the other ladies came down on Nene the hardest. She is always seen as the aggressor, the problematic friend, not easily approachable. But on the flip side, also the “strong” one, and the “big sister” of the group, and even in her marriage. About the marriage, we’ve only really seen glimpses of her & Gregg, but she was still vocal about them having problems, including him cheating on her and lying in the past, and then we see her ultimately become his caretaker when he gets sick. Back to the women.. They often make jokes about her looks and appearance, which are ABSOLUTELY rooted in anti-blackness and misogynoir. All of them have made nasty remarks about her being wide back, big & burly, ugly, compared her to a man or transgender. I saw someone say maybe this had something to do with her multiple rhinoplasties, and I agree.

I do believe she felt easily targeted and was very defensive at the drop of a dime, but I think life hardened her & getting on a platform like this at the time that she did really exacerbated that. She does not have the luxury of getting babied, or even acting like one. I feel like women like her live metaphorically on an island by themselves. They never truly get what they are looking for in a bond or relationship. I also personally don’t think many of them have approached situations with her in a way that would reassure her that they are friends, but they’re just having a hiccup. By the time they try to hash anything out, she’s already on the defense because you’ve already shown her you will treat her like everyone else has. It’s also obvious that she may have been dealing with her abandonment issues for her entire time on the show.

Not saying any of this to make excuses, but I think that’s my point. It’s more that I empathize and sympathize with Nene as a Black woman. I’m at S11 right now and this is where it really hit for me that I won’t have another favorite from RHOA because I don’t think any of the other women are as authentic and nuanced to me. There is not a season that I don’t enjoy her and what she brings to the show, good bad or otherwise. I loovvvveee Nene. She is committed to being herself no matter what that looks like. She doesn’t wait for anyone to give her props, she lives in her own fabulousness despite what the others think, and she owns ALL of her shit. People don’t even talk as bad about some of the ladies that have done extremely worse things on the show, i.e. Frick & Frack. I really wish ppl would extend Nene much more grace!

Ok nothing about this input was little but I had to be clear lol! Nene Leakes Supremacy over here 🫡

Season 4 thoughts

I’m doing my monthly rewatch 🤣 and I’m on everyone’s favorite season but this time I looked at the kids in a different light. Something I think about in relation to my own life is how many more opportunities I may have had if I wasn’t born in the hood.. that’s what I think about the kids of this season. They’re all extremely gifted in different ways, but they’re at the bottom of the totem pole of abject poverty & the system doesn’t help them. It actually harmed them all in one way or another.

Michael obviously is a born leader. He can think for himself, he is loyal to his friends. But we see he can box. If he wasn’t abused growing up, he may have had a different response to Cutty welcoming him to train at the gym.
Randy is a hustler! Intelligent, quick on his feet, and can make a dollar. He may have been a great entrepreneur if he was in the right environment & had the support. Esp bc people often compare him to Prop Joe.
Dukie was a walking encyclopedia. The episode where Michael take him & Bug to six flags & Dukie makes a comment about the roller coaster, Michael asks him how he always knows stuff. He could have done well in any academic/professional field he pursued.
We obviously see Namond is the exception of his friends so I won’t go into him.
& I love Donut. I think it’s most obvious with him that so many children in these environments are gifted but their skills end up getting used for crime because of circumstance. He was clearly nice with cars and knowledgeable about them too! A career in the automotive industry would have done him well.

This was long but there’s always so much to take from The Wire. It’s that much more insightful when you or ppl you know can relate to the show. I’d argue that anyone in this country young or old can relate to at least one episode!
