25F in tech: How are you actually finding serious partners in Sri Lanka?

Hey everyone,

I’m a 25F working in the tech sector, and I’m reaching a point where I’m genuinely curious about how people in our community are finding serious, long-term partners these days.

To be blunt, the usual routes aren't working out:

Dating Apps / Instagram: Completely dominated by hookup culture. It’s hard to find anyone looking for something serious or committed.

Traditional Kapuwas (Matchmakers): My family has tried this, and while the proposals usually come from good backgrounds, physical attraction just isn't there. For me, appearance and mutual attraction are important baselines to even move forward.

The pool feels incredibly small. It feels like most guys I find attractive and compatible are either already taken, married, or just looking for casual setups.

My criteria isn't crazy complex: I just want to find a good-looking guy, ideally between 27–32, who is also in the tech industry (or at least understands the lifestyle/mindset).

I'm considering looking into modern matrimonial sites like Poruwa.lk, or even traditional Sunday newspaper ads, or speed dating events if those are a thing here.

For those who found their person:

  1. Did you meet through social media, corporate networks, or matrimonial platforms?

  2. Has anyone actually tried Poruwa.lk? Is it worth it for younger professionals, or is it mostly handled by parents?

  3. Are traditional Sunday paper proposals still a viable option for our generation, or is it outdated?

Would love to hear your experiences, success stories, or even just some solid advice. Thanks!
