government people really have the thickest faces
i run a manufacturing biz that's not doing so well lately (who is?) but just enough that i don't need to shut down and put all my staff out of work. but between BIR and city hall taxing you for your highest gross years even though your sales are at an all time low that could change at anytime for me.
in any case, the wife of a known government official, who i know for a fact has a lot of flood control money, was steered my way by a common friend asking for a rush, but low quantity order for her side business, just enough to tide them over for the holidays. now as some of you might know, manufacturing is usually for bulk orders, especially for custom items which i specialize in, but i do take low quantity orders to help startups but the cost per unit is high compared to bulk.
anyway i give a price, and she says her budget is like 40% of my asking. and that her china supplier is priced like that, but she's trying to go local because china raised prices by like 20% or something, and china can't do rush orders.
i said i'm not matching that but good luck. Didn't even bother to meet in the middle. Fuck government.
while i do offer discounts and even zero margin for startups just to help them get off the ground, no way some government squeeze gets a discount especially since all the money seems to be in government these days.
