Failure?

23 M. 184cm, 100kg, muscular (think this info) is required for my particular case). MISARPE protocol. I got my 4 MARPE screws installed on 1st of July, and the distraction appliance on July 10th. I then had to wait for a month, till getting a corticotomy, due to the surgeon being out of the country. I got the corticotomy on August 6th and started turning yesterday, after the surgeon and orthodontist (they work together) removed my stitches. The protocol is 3-4 mini turns every morning and night. Did 6 mini turns yesterday and 3 today. I understand it's way too early for a split, but I'm concerned that there is not much pressure if any in my face. I'm afraid it means it likely failed. Very stressed rn, cause I paid a lot for this treatment. Above are pictures attached of my palate/device:

Pic 1: before any turns

Pic 2: yesterday evening after 6 total mini turns

Pic 3: today morning after another 3 mini turns

Screw head fell off?

Hello everyone. I got my mini screws implanted 2 days ago, and the distraction appliance will be implanted next week.

First photo: right after procedure

Second photo: just now

As you can see there is a difference in how the back 2 screws look. I think that their head fell off. Is this possible? Has anyone had a similar experience?

Thanks!

Training after SARPE

Hello everyone.

As the title says, I'm getting SARPE early July, and later braces to start my decompensation for a future jaw surgery. I plan/want to compete in a bodybuilding competition, which will probably be held on October 23rd.

How much time will it take to return to light training and fully heal?

Is it unrealistic for me to compete in October?

Advice needed

Male, 23 years old.

I have whole face asymmetry (jaw deviation, orbital dystopia, canted maxilla) on Lefort 2-3 level and a crossbite. From what I understand all of these is caused by a mild-moderate case of congenital hemifacial microsomia. No one from my family has these issues.

I've consulted 2 "high-end" orthodontists in my country (Azerbaijan) and both said I need palate (35.5mm) expansion prior to decompensation and surgery. One wants to do a 4 screw MARPE and the other one... well I didn't proceed with him for now, but he seems more receptive to my feedback overall.

My main concers are:

  1. 4 screw MARPE without corticotomy won't work for someone my age and stature.

  2. Even if does work there is a big chance it will worsen my pre-existing asymmetry, which I can't risk getting worse. Ortho says it might even improve the asymmetry, but tbh I'm very sceptical.

Another question I, have is that I will be getting an orbital box osteotomy for my vertical orbital dystopia. And I want to do it in August 2027. Is it possible to get OBO, while being in the process of decompensation?

What would you advice for my situation? Any additional advice is welcome, as this is a relatively dark/unknown field for me, especially considering my geo-location and scarcity of highly qualified specialists. Just please don't try to talk me out of OBO.

Last picture is of MARPE from the orthos Instagram. He wants to use a similar device for my case as well!
