Photo of an 8-meter-long sucuri that was tamed and taken to the zoo in 1951
Hello, it’s me again—the person who conducted the investigation into the famous photo of the giant Sucurijú(allegedly 40 meters long). I confirmed that the photograph dates back to the 1930s—specifically, no earlier than 1937—after finding it in a book titled "Amazonia: Rio Juruá", published that year.
I also looked into the other photograph—the one showing a Sucurijú said to be 35 meters long, with its head and tail submerged in the water (see here). Unfortunately, I didn't find much, other than the fact that two newspapers from widely separated Brazilian states reported the sighting—and published the photo—on the same day (June 17, 1949). However, I frequently came across accounts of an alleged 40-meter Sucurijú attacking the Tabatinga Fort; although I didn't focus on that aspect—since I was searching for the photo itself—I eventually discovered a news story in the Rio de Janeiro newspaper *A Noite*, dated March 5, 1951, which featured that photograph alongside the following article:
"HE GRABBED HER ALIVE!"
"And he came to offer it to the Zoo. It's over eight meters long, the enormous anaconda - It traveled by oxcart, launch, train and truck: - Unexpected arrival on a painter's excursion."
"The Zoo has just received another remarkable guest, a respectable sucurijú, measuring over eight meters in length and weighing 150 kilograms."
"The large snake was captured on the banks of the Brilhante River, a tributary of the Ivinheima River, by a painter seeking adventure who, departing from the city of Assis, in São Paulo, where he resides, had ventured into the Mato Grosso jungle."
"About thirty days ago, Mr. Paulo da Silveira—the fortunate and fearless hunter—encountered the fearsome reptile, which belongs to one of the best-known species and often reaches even more massive proportions"
so it continues on the next page:
"and living both on land and in the water."
"Generally, the snakes belong to the anaconda family, some of whose species are not venomous, they make their nests in burrows dug on the banks of rivers, with entrances below the waterline. They like, therefore, to go ashore where they hunt their food and take good naps curled up in the sun, giving the impression of a bundle of coiled ropes."
"Speaking to A Noite shortly after the snake’s arrival at the Zoo, Mr. Paulo da Silveira explained that for over four years he has made periodic trips to Mato Grosso, venturing into that state’s forests and wetlands on hunting expeditions and excursions. It was during one of these treks through the forest that he encountered the sucuriju, which—as he formally stated—he captured with his own hands. He named it "Tapajós" and crated it for the long journey here, a trip that involved a succession of transport methods: ox-cart, motorboat, train, and finally, truck."
""Tapajós," that formidable giant snake, has now fully settled into her transfer from the wilds of Mato Grosso to the Quinta da Boa Vista. Calm—and, one might say, almost civilized—she allows herself to be handled without agitation or significant resistance, not only by her captor but also by Mr. José Simplicio de Miranda, the Zoo’s Head of Maintenance. With great willingness—and even a certain perfectly photogenic flair—she readily posed for the A Noite camera, acting like a distinguished sucurijú who knows her own worth and appreciates the courtesies shown to the press."
(For some reason, the entire excerpt from the second page is repeated on page 24 of the same day's edition of the same newspaper.)
The dead bear found with the rare knife that appears on the map—could that be Charlotte's dead husband?
Can anyone find this webpage in high resolution?
This page appeared in an article about animals supposedly discovered by Marc Van Roosmalen, but I cannot find this page on his website anywhere. I ask because, in addition to the giant paca, orange coati, and *onça-canguçú* skull, the image apparently shows other species he reported.
Cryptid evidence iceberg with 160 entries; to access each topic, follow the link in
The Cryptid Evidence Iceberg! Featuring 160 entries!!! Inspired by the iceberg created by Truth nearly three years ago—now updated. Includes photos, footage, audio recordings, physical evidence, and statues of cryptids
Access it here; all the topics on the site are clickable, allowing you to view the evidence
If you have more evidence to add, let me know! And for the love of God, it's an iceberg of EVIDENCE, NOT LOST MEDIA!!!!!!
Did you know there are more photos beyond the 15 taken by Hiroshi Yagi? There are the alleged photos taken by Satoshi Nishida in 2001 of a supposed Japanese wolf in Kyushu; however, unlike Yagi's images, the vast majority consider these to be nothing more than an abandoned domestic dog.
Do you call yourself a cryptozoologist?
I don't call myself a cryptozoologist because I haven't published any articles/books involving or dedicated to a specific cryptid, nor do I explore in search of one. To be honest, the only one I would consider a cryptozoologist in the field would be Adam Thorn, who explored the island of Sumatra twice and managed to record a footprint and a video of a supposed arm of the Orang Pendek
Notícia!!! O cineasta e Caubói Roger Patterson, Filma o lendário Pé-Grande!
Does anyone have any information about these alleged photos of live Javan tigers?
The first one contains no information, and the second is dated 2018; I found it here
I’ve only managed to find frames from the alleged footage of the 'migo' mentioned in this iceberg; does anyone have the link, or is the footage lost? Or does the iceberg entry simply refer to those frames?
I might have found a cropped version of the last 4 of the 19 photos of the Japanese wolf taken by Hiroshi Yagi in 1996
So, I was organizing and adding photos to an evidence drive I created, and while adding the Yagi Japanese Wolf photos, I stumbled upon a subreddit post sharing the video "Inside of Japan There Were Two Wolves." I found the video thumbnail a bit odd because one of the famous Yagi photos looked different. Watching the video, I noticed a discrepancy at the 9:08 mark—specifically regarding the most famous shot (the wolf on the small hill beneath a sign, looking toward Yagi), where the wolf's head is turned slightly to the side. Later, at the 9:58 mark, they show four more heavily zoomed-in photos; the top two are familiar, but the bottom two don't match any of the other 15 known images. I thought about using Google Lens on them to find the original, un-zoomed versions. When I ran a search on the photo where the wolf's head is turned, I came across a Japan Times video discussing the cryptid that features an interview with Hiroshi Yagi; its thumbnail uses that same photo of the wolf under the sign. That’s when I realized what made them look so different: the iron signpost behind the wolf isn't in the same position in every photo. This led me to consider two possibilities: either they are different photos, or—more plausibly—the video I was watching used AI to upscale the images, distorting the ones we know and making them look different from the originals. This is evident in the wolf's body pose, which is IDENTICAL across all three photos; if the animal had actually moved, I’d expect the pose to look at least slightly different. But that wouldn't apply to The Japan Times video's thumbnail, since the video was posted in 2021—a time when this whole AI thing didn't even exist, or if it did, it was back when it generated images with five arms and 37 fingers. So, I highly doubt it's AI, though maybe it's just my crazy imagination—what do you guys think?
Photographs of the "Brevet's Black Tapir"—a putative new species or subspecies of the Malayan tapir, though widely considered to be merely rare, melanistic Malayan tapirs
Tier List Cryptid Evidence (Photo, Film, Audio, physical evidence) V2 (MY OPINION)
This is an updated version of the cryptid evidence TierMaker I created a few months ago; it used to have 84 entries, and now it has 110 (it's worth noting that this is a tier list of *evidence*—it doesn't include lost media!!!).
I will not consider ABC depending on the context (I summarized almost all of them into one icon because they are almost all the same thing, only the name, location, and sighting story change).
Regarding the erroneous identifications or confusions, such as the flying rods, Julia, and Bloop, I placed them at the end for this reason, and to avoid creating a new layer.
I have a hobby of taking photos of giant animals (alive and/or dead); could anyone tell me a way to take a photo of one?
So, I have a hobby involving cryptozoology, which means I already have a greater-than-average interest in animals—especially giant or "mysterious" ones. So, once I got the camera from the Legendary Gunslinger mission and picked up the map after the hunt with Hosea, I started hunting the legendary animals. (At this point, I’ve hunted practically all the ones the game allows Arthur to hunt; I’m just missing the black panther and the giant albino alligator, since I haven't reached Chapter 4 yet).
That’s how it went for a while, until I discovered the existence of exclusive or rare animals in the game—like the escaped circus lion belonging to Mr. Margaret (which has become my favorite side mission so far). So, I’d like to know: are there any other rare/exclusive animals or giant ones I can photograph? (And by "giant," I mean a version of the species that is larger than normal—not just big animals like bears or bison, since those don't count!)
Just so you know, I'm away from home right now; the photos were taken on the PS5, and I haven't used the flash drive method to transfer them yet.
(I discovered there's a dead giant snake—supposedly a legendary animal removed from the game—which is another example of the kind of thing I'd like to know about.)
How would it be possible to implement a turn-based system in a game that includes movement, item use, and attacking?

I'd like to learn GML Code, but whenever I look for tutorials, they're all very old. Do you know of any recent tutorials? (I should mention that anything involving reading doesn't help; I can't interpret it.)
I tried using GML Visual from Gamemaker 2 and learning with AI, as I learned a lot using it, and I managed to develop a programming logic with Construct 3 when I was making a quick game called Farm Survive (it's available for free on Itch.io to play in your browser). I tried because using Visual, the AI simply won't give you an answer that's just a Ctrl C and Ctrl V, and you have to put in the effort, and I managed to learn very well. When I tried using GML Visual, I found it awful; I couldn't create a pre-programmed box.

I found very specific tutorials for doing certain things, and after asking on the Gamemaker subreddit, I'm only using AI for very tedious and repetitive tasks (like chance calculations and repetitions using 'Switch' and 'Case', which is unbearable). I don't want to keep setting prompts to do things because I won't learn by copying and pasting tabs.
