Après 2 ans en France pas d’amis

Bonjour.

Shelter cat not accepting me

Hi everyone. At the beginning of April, I adopted a 1 year old boy from the shelter. There wasn't much information about his past just that he was living on the streets with his siblings. At the point that I took him he was at the shelter for 3 months. He was very afraid of humans. He is castrated.

I have a 2 year old boy at home. Shelter cat likes him and kind of uses him as a support in the home. Even though I got him his own litterbox and bowl, he likes to share with my first cat. He often follows him around, initiates play, snuggles him and chirps at him.

However over the course of 2 months he still does not let me near him. Despite him seeing me prepare his food everyday, he still runs from me when I walk past. I do not try to touch him. He hisses at me sometimes but only if I come too close. However, if I'm in bed he will sometimes come and sit on the bed with me which I find odd.

Basically the question I am asking is if anyone has had a similar experience with a "feral" (although he is very friendly to my cat) cat and if there is any hope of me being able to cuddle him or stroke him one day. He is extremely cute so it makes me sad. I guess he is kind of my cat's cat. Any advice appreciated.
