Looking for a ride to tonight’s show (Monterey -> Big Sur)

Hi! Is anyone else headed to the Henry Miller Memorial Library from Monterey tonight who’d be down to carpool? My wife’s a really anxious driver and doesn’t want to take the 1 back after dark, and I don’t drive. We’d be happy to chip in for gas! TIA!!

If you purchased this button down and hate it...

Would you please pass onto me <3 Total shot in the dark if this will even be seen by the purchaser... It was in my cart and then while I was pulling out my debit card, it sold!!! Would preemptively offer to trade anything I got in the OOAK sample drop that didn't fit. XOXOX

Clearance Sale Try-On & Thoughts!!

(Everything size small, I'm 5'9 and 36-25-36) Got most things (except the first top) for 50% off. Photos of the front AND BACK of the garments as I am a bit peeved when the FBC website listings don't show things from the back.

 1. Buckle halter top: Soooooooo flattering and sleek. Love it. NOT a lot of stretch, it's a perfect fit right now but I'm a few delicious lunches away from it being too small. Zipper in the back.

 2. Congratulations Cami: Weird fabric, quite plastic-y, but it does make sense with the design. Visually, I love! It doesn't "fit" so much as it "hangs," which is fine for day-to-day but I wouldn't wear it, like, horseback riding or jousting or something? There are two dangling blue ribbons in the back that I think you're supposed to tie into a bow? They kind of weigh the back down. I like that, you might not.

 3. Rumba top: was really excited about this one online, but IRL kind of a dud. Fabric is THIN and thus sheer, which is a bit of a confusing choice for a garment this low-support already. The back is also bizarrely cropped-but-full-coverage, so the garment looks quite odd from the back, IMO.

 4. Harlequin smocked blouse: all-around perfect. Zero complaints. This style (I also have in vegetable medley) and the puff-sleeve (short sleeved) smocked blouses are super flattering, comfortable, and easy to style around. I love these!!

Carpool to Belle & Sebastian show? (June 9)

Hi! My fiancé and I have tickets to the Belle and Sebastian show at the Henry Miller library on June 9 (If You're Feeling Sinister night). We're driving up from Santa Barbara and spending the night in Monterrey, but I don't drive and my fiancé is a really anxious driver and would prefer to avoid driving back from Big Sur after dark. Is anyone going to this gig, or do you know of a better place to ask? Happy to pitch in for gas money, obviously!

*DIY* Light, Fun Nuptual Look for Makeup Dimwit?

I quit wearing makeup a little over two years ago, but I decided it might be nice to wear a little for my wedding in August. Lip gloss + concealer + blush + mascara + eyeshadow (I plan on wearing a slightly different eyeshadow on the day -- let me know if you have a good dupe for Glossier Skywash in Pool <//3333).

I feel like there's room for improvement in application / technique, but I don't really want to add much more product. I would like my lips to be a tiny bit more noticeable, but I've always found any color just makes them look weird, clown-ish, and too big on my very pale face. I'd say I'd describe my ideal look as: vernal, timeless, playful

Any advice/ suggestions? And any hair ideas? It doesn't look its best in these pictures (it's Sunday afternoon and I last washed my hair Thursday afternoon...), and I'm trying to work around the kinda awkward length with something that would be easy to do myself.

TIA for any advice / ideas!

elf 16hr camo concealer + nyx inky stix (cyber cyan) + glossier lip gloss (clear) + glossier cloud paint (puff) + pacifica surf lash mascara

dear mods: the trial tuesday posts specify professional trials ! i think my post can be exemptible as it is done by myself and also a bit different from the typical wedding trial posts.

Dry Cleaner for very special, vintage garment?

I'm getting married in August and I have a really, really darling vintage wedding dress from the 1950s. There is some light discoloration on the front in the lace. I would love to get it professionally cleaned, but it's so old, delicate, and irreplaceable (if something were to happen, I have no idea where I'd get another perfectly-fitting vintage wedding dress on short notice!!) that I am extremely trepidatious.

Ablitt's has some negative reviews online, and not just about customer service, but about ruined garments, too. EcoCleaners doesn't seem like this is the kind of thing they have experience with. Are these my only options? Is there anything better in, say, Solvang or Carp? Thank you !!

▲ 1 r/honeymoonplanning+1 crossposts

My fiancé and I are trying to decide where to have our post-wedding trip. We're getting married in August and honeymooning in mid/late September. We've had some general ideas (Japan, Vietnam, Taiwan, New Zealand), but also thought to ask around to see what others recommend. My fiancé has a British passport, I have a U.S. passport; we're both historically knowledgable. In addition to English, fiancé speaks German, I speak French.

Here are our confines:

-No European locations (I used to be a Europe-based travel writer!)

-Dietary restrictions: I've been on the pescatarian / vegetarian spectrum for the last 20 years. Fiancé is vegan but can move to vegetarian while traveling. Both of us want to be immersed in culture, but red meat and chicken is a hard no. That being said, we LOVE to eat, so we'd love to go somewhere where we can explore the native cuisine without a ton of substitutions or fuss.

-Budget: We've done a lot of traveling, which usually involves packed itineraries and sacrifices in comfort, but for a trip of this nature, we want a level of "vacation" that our travel usually doesn't involve. As such, we'd like to stay at 4-5 star hotels, be able to access comfortable transportation, and have some nice meals out. The exact dollar amount of our budget is unclear (waiting on wedding gifts and all that), but probably somewhere in the $5-7k range.

-Cultural aspects: we are both pretty serious about art, design, architecture, music. While the trip will be more relaxed than most, we both actively want to learn a lot. We're both academics with strong history knowledge, and really want to engage with the culture and people of the places we visit. We want to go somewhere with a lot of culture, but we don't want to spend a ton of time in a chaotic urban center.

-Environment: Waterfront would be ideal (lake, ocean, river, etc.). Ultra-hot is a no-go for me. We can deal with cold. We love beautiful nature, but aren't super gung-ho about backpacking or rock climbing or anything like that.

Any recommendations? Some of my favorite places I've been have been Croatia, Scotland, maritime Canada, French Riviera.

Our current ideas include Japan, Taiwan, New Zealand, Vietnam, Brazil. Open to hearing about anywhere! And open to visiting 2-4 locations in one trip!
