Trying to Stay in School

I never thought I'd have to ask for help, but I'm running out of options.

Because of an enrollment issue caused by unclear and inconsistent instructions, I now have to pay around $10 USD next week for my adding subjects—fees that should have been free. I honestly don't know where I'll get the money, and my family is already struggling financially.

If you're able to help, no matter how small, I would be deeply grateful. Every dollar will go toward my enrollment.

Thank you so much for your kindness. ❤️

I honestly can't stop crying. 😭 (My eyes are already swollen from crying so much.)

I'm an irregular student, and one of our teachers announced in our class group chat that we should send the list of subjects we would be taking this semester. Based on the announcement, the subjects we were retaking would be processed through the registrar using an adding form. So I followed the instructions exactly as they were given and submitted my schedule.

Later, I found out from one of my classmates that our teacher had told them personally that it was okay to have those same subjects encoded directly instead of processing them through the adding form. That's when I realized that not everyone had been given the same instructions.

Because of those unclear and inconsistent instructions, almost half of us irregular students are now required to process our subjects through the adding procedure and pay the corresponding fee. The frustrating part is that those subjects should have been added for free if the instructions and process had been clear from the beginning.

I honestly don't know where I'll get the money. Next week, I have to come up with more than $10 and I simply don't have it. I don't even have the courage to tell my parents because I know this will only add to the burdens they're already carrying. For the past two days, I haven't been able to function properly, and I still find myself crying whenever I think about it.

I didn't just accept the situation. I went to the MIS Office to ask if there was any way to fix the problem. They told me to go back to the teacher who handled the encoding.

I did. I returned to the encoder just one hour after my subjects had been encoded. She told me that nothing could be changed because the encoding had already been finalized. According to her, my only option was to process the subjects through the registrar's adding procedure, which meant I would have to pay. She also said that I should have been certain about the list of subjects before asking for them to be encoded.

But I was certain about my subjects. The problem was never my list. The problem was the inconsistent instructions. What was announced in the group chat was different from what was told privately to some students. If everyone had received the same clear instructions from the start, almost half of us irregular students would not be in this situation today.

What hurts the most is the lack of accountability. Because of someone else's unclear and inconsistent instructions, we're the ones dealing with the consequences. We're the ones paying for a mistake that wasn't ours.

It's heartbreaking. It's frustrating. Being an irregular student is already difficult enough.

Those subjects should have been free. Instead, we're the ones paying the price for someone else's mistake. 💔

I just need to get this off my chest. Naiiyak pa rin ako.

Naiiyak ako sa inis. 😭 (Actually, sobrang maga na yung eyes ko kakaiyak.)

I'm an irregular student, and nag-announce yung isa naming teacher sa GC na magsend daw kami ng mga subjects na ite-take namin this semester.

Because of that unclear and inconsistent instruction, almost half of us irregular students now have to pay for our adding subjects. Free dapat yun, pero dahil sa misunderstanding, kailangan na naming magbayad.

Now, I honestly don't know where I'll get the ₱450 to pay for my additional subjects. I don't even have the guts to tell my parents about what happened. I haven't been able to function properly for the past two days, and until now, naiiyak pa rin ako.

I even tried voicing out my concern to the MIS Office (the office in charge of the system) to ask if there was any way to fix the problem. They told me to go back to the teacher/encoder.

Bro, I literally went back to the encoder just an hour after she encoded my subjects. She simply told me that the only way to fix it was through the adding process in the registrar, which means I have to pay. When I asked if my encoded subjects could still be edited, she said hindi na raw pwede. Then she told me that I should've been sure about the list of subjects I submitted before the encoding.

Ma'am, I was sure about my subjects. The problem wasn't my list—it was the instructions. What was announced in the GC was different from what was told to students who asked personally. If the instructions had been clear and consistent from the beginning, almost half of us irregular students wouldn't be in this situation.

What hurts the most is that there was no accountability. Because of their unclear and inconsistent instructions, we're the ones suffering the consequences and paying for a mistake that wasn't ours.

NAIIYAK NA NAMAN AKO. KAINIS TALAGA.

Free dapat yung mga subjects na 'yon. 😕😕
