Pilaster clips missing

This midcentury HiFi cabinet has these pilaster strips for shelving but I don’t believe we have ever had the correct clips that fit into these triangular holes. The pegs I’m using are pretty dodgy and I’d love to get the right clips if anybody out there can tell me what they look like. I can’t seem to find any pilaster strips online that have holes of this shape.

Roid Rage and gym best practice (outside US)

I’m aware that steroids have gone from taboo to normalised in certain circles, particularly in some countries. I’ve moved from a country of near-zero tolerance for antisocial bro culture, aggression, and mainstreaming of drugs, to a country strongly influenced by US influencer culture, where standards and regulation are also on the back foot. While the public council-operated gyms here have largely been safe family-friendly courteous spaces, the first signs are showing that the gym junkies have found out about the fair prices and good facilities, and we’re starting to see more aggression, non-natural physique aspirations, and u body image stereotypes creeping back in and swaying the demographic away from the more “normal”, “body positive” or “healthy ideal” kind of cultures we were seeing in the fitness scene. With a few aggressive incidents occurring at our gym recently, and the managers not used to these situations, we’ve been talking about what is best practice in this space. What can gyms to around keeping the space friendly, making users aware of the health effects of steroids, addressing aggression in people who are over the edge, and providing peer-reviewed but digestible evidence on the topic? Has anybody seen good examples of gyms addressing this challenge?

“Can I pet your dog” - WWYD?

Question to lawyers with knowledge of the Australian legal framework around dogs. I’m not referring to dangerous or listed dogs, but general well-trained dogs without history of biting. Toddlers in Australia are getting pretty good at asking us whether they’re allowed to pet our dogs. It happens to us a lot because our dog is insanely cute. But it’s occurred to me that toddlers still do the most unpredictable stuff that could preempt a bite, even from a non-biter. Our dog has never bitten and doesn’t have the jaw size to bite a person too seriously. BUT if a toddler jumps on top of our dog, as it has almost happened once or twice, and our dog does what dogs do and a bite occurs, for argument’s sake, on the face, am I right to assume that the consequences would be very severe for our dog and us, regardless? I just don’t know if it’s worth saying “yes”, because I don’t know whether the law would take a toddler‘s unmeasured approach into account. In short: would there be a very high legal risk for me and my dog, even if the trigger was a toddler’s erratic moves?

Small powered monitor for amp sims?

I have a Fender Reverb amp sim. The tone is great. I use it through headphones but prefer a speaker. I’ve been using a 100w powered stereo speaker around 17x25cm but I believe the frequencies that come through aren’t healthy and it’s better to use a powered studio monitor - agree? There’s also a nice stereo amp and speakers in the room already, but I’m quite risk averse with that setup.

If so, I’m trying to figure out a good balance between size and sound. I like being able to buy the amp sim on a side table and a speaker underneath, hidden next to the couch, so that I don’t need to dedicate a playing room or play in the office. A speaker no bigger than 30x30cm would be nice, but if the improvement is huge by going up to 40cm then so be it. The problem is, at what point is it easier just to go back to using an amp, when there are nice small tube amps available. Does anybody have a speaker recommendation that sounds great with tube-style amp sims?

Better with scale than tissues and alcohol

God I miss Planterina… used to be my encyclopaedia for this kinda stuff.
So reddit, what are the best tools in combination with rubbing/isopropyl alcohol for getting stubborn scale off leaves? I plan to keep using the alcohol, but switch tissues for something more precise.

I used to use wipes or tissues but they require a lot of hard rubbing and they’re not environmentally friendly. I recently had some steel wool close by, sprayed some alcohol on it, and it blew my mind how easily the scale came off! Obviously you shouldn’t be sanding the leaves of plants so I don’t do that habitually but it does make me think there must be better options so I thought I would reach out to the group to hear if anybody has found a better tool. Some dudes from the internet claim that a toothbrush is not bad, but I don’t like the way toothbrushes spray solution around. The good thing with a tissue is that it absorbs excess alcohol. Maybe there’s a perfect cleaning pad of some sort. Any thoughts?

PSA(/part-rant) - don’t try to link your pet on your services NSW online account

Just went to update my dog‘s address - found out you’re supposed to do this on our lovely NSW version of myGov. Went through the steps with the typical hour-long wait do to system connections and all the other broken parts of Australia’s online citizen portals and as soon as our pet was linked, the system made up a bunch of fines about not being registered or desexed (which he is). Don’t bother guys.
