IQ goes from being 20% heritable in infancy to 80% heritable in later life. My mom has told me that my home when I was very young (under 5) was cold, depressed, and quiet with very little language being used. Life felt very confusing to me when I was young. I also received a poor education in Arizona (ranked towards the lowest in states). It feels like with getting multiple higher education degrees, rising into higher level jobs, and surrounding myself with more gifted or high intelligence people as an adult slowly allowed me to fully blossom and reach my full potential IQ wise. Anyone else identify with that?

I always suspected my dad did this but found out it is true from relatives this weekend. I always kept it in the back of my head. My dad has all kinds of problems and diagnoses but wasn’t physically or really verbally abusive to me. Mostly incarcerated and absent and a calm person when not. No emotional connection abilities. He is ASPD not NPD hope it’s ok I’m here the subreddit for kids of ASPD is pretty dead. I’m just so upset about this revelation and crying. I almost never cry and just want to cut him off but it feels complicated because I don’t want to cut his whole family off but they do kind of just laugh his behavior off. There is sex trafficking and problem with underage in Nogales. I am his daughter. Support and advice welcome and TYIA if you take the time.
