TL;DR: Spent half a month dealing with delivery delays, and the other half dealing with a defective item AND a defective replacement. The brand gave me an official DOA certificate for a return, but Flipkart support keeps fraudulently marking my ticket as "resolved" to push back their deadlines. The human support agents have zero power and just read the automated bot script. I finally filed an NCH grievance today.

I have been chasing Flipkart for an entire month, and I am completely exhausted by how broken their system is.

First, I spent half the month just dealing with constant delivery delays. When the product finally arrived, it had a severe hardware defect right out of the box. Flipkart doesn't do returns/replacements for tech stuff. They instead tell you to go deal with brand service center. They have to issue some Defective On Arrival shit to make Flipkart do a replacement.

I went through the hassle of getting a replacement, only for them to send me a second unit from the exact same defective manufacturing batch (adjacent serial number). It had the exact same defect.

I did everything right. I got the brand's authorized service technician to visit, inspect the unit, and issue a physical DOA (Dead on Arrival) certificate that explicitly tells me to return the item to Flipkart.

This is where the real scam started.

I uploaded the DOA proof to Flipkart. Since then, their customer support has been playing games with the ticketing system to avoid giving me my refund. A representative will call, promise a definitive resolution within "24 hours," and then, a couple of days later, silently mark my ticket as "Resolved" without actually doing anything.

Because they close it, I am forced to reopen the ticket. Every time I reopen it, their system automatically extends the "final resolution date" by another 5 days. They have done this FOUR times now. There are absolutely no consequences for these agents closing active, unresolved tickets. It is just a system designed to let them dodge work and manipulate their internal metrics.

30th July - Created ticket, uploaded required stuff, they say they resolve by 4th.
4th Aug- Final resolution date
7th Aug- Final Final resolution date
10th Aug - Final Final Final resolution date
12th Aug - Final Final Final Final resolution date

They keep marking the ticket as resolved and extending final dates. I have to call them each time to reopen.

And do not even get me started on their human customer support. What is the point of having humans on the phone if they have zero power? You can explain this entire fraud to them, and they literally just repeat exactly what the automated AI chatbot says: "I have noted your feedback, please wait till the new date."

Why hire humans if you are just going to make them read an AI script? Customer service reps should actually be given the power to override the system, escalate things to higher management, and make changes when the system is clearly broken. Right now, talking to a human there is completely useless.

I finally got fed up and filed a formal grievance with the National Consumer Helpline (NCH) today. Let's see what happens. but I am absolutely done with this platform.

First order in Flipkart: I have a month-long headache.

TL;DR: My new Canon G4770 leaves huge blank gaps on scans. This happens on both the flatbed and the auto-feeder. I tried every reset and software fix possible. I think the physical paper sensors and internal encoder are broken straight from the factory.

I just bought a Canon G4770 and the scanning unit seems completely defective right out of the box. It essentially does not know where the physical boundaries of the paper are. I want to run my diagnosis by you all to see if I am missing something obvious before I deal with the authorized service center.

The Symptoms:

• When I scan a standard A4 page, the final image has blank white space at the very bottom. The scanner just keeps recording empty air after the paper has already passed through the rollers.
• If I put that same A4 sheet on the glass and line it up perfectly with the corner alignment arrow, the scan comes out with random empty margins on the top and left (or bottom and right).
• I ran a much longer sheet of Foolscap paper through the ADF. It left the exact same amount of empty blank space at the bottom as the A4 paper did.

Look at the empty space it scanned past the page.

What I have tried so far:

• Tested different software. The exact same issue happens in NAPS2 on my PC and the official Canon mobile app.
• Tried multiple different DPI settings.
• Wiped down the brand new ADF rollers with a microfiber cloth just in case there was factory residue.
• Gently pushed the little plastic paper sensor pin in the ADF to make sure it was moving freely and making the beep sound.
• Performed a complete hard factory reset through the printer's device settings menu.
• Tried different paper sizes. Made sure my paper is the proper size with scale.

None of this changed a thing.

My Diagnosis:

Because the Foolscap paper and the A4 paper leave the exact same size gap at the bottom, I am convinced the physical trailing edge sensor in the ADF is defective. The plastic flag is either physically sticking or the firmware has a built in delay. It takes an extra second to drop down and tell the camera to stop recording.

Combined with the flatbed also miscalculating the edges, it feels like the internal encoder or the sensor bar itself is just totally miscalibrated from the factory.

What do y'all think? I have to deal with stupid authorised service center before being able to return it. I am hoping it's something easy I missed that y'all can help me fix.

Edit:
I did some math on the final file sizes and noticed something else. When I set the software to exactly A4, the final digital image size is perfectly A4. But because the scanner keeps recording past the end of the physical page to fill that gap, the actual physical A4 document is being vertically squished and the rest is filled with empty space.

I initially thought the ADF motor was just pulling the paper too fast. But since this exact same margin and sizing bug happens on the flatbed glass too, it can't just be the ADF motor, right?

Current theory is that it has to be a shared timing or encoder issue with the main scanning unit itself. What is the specific part or setting that is messed up here.

Is there any way to actually fix this vertical squishing issue through calibration, or is this machine completely toast?
