I’m dealing with a really serious issue with JPMorgan Chase and I’m hoping someone here has insight or has dealt with something similar.
A third party debt collector purchased an old credit card debt of about 8900 and got a judgment against me. Chase then froze my account for DOUBLE that amount, around 17k, which has now driven my account to about negative 11000.
I worked out a deal with the creditor, and they issued a notarized conditional release authorizing a payment of 3400 and release of the restraint. They sent this directly to Chase on May 5.
On May 8, I called Chase’s levy department and they confirmed they had the document and attached it to my account. They told me to go into a branch. I went on May 9 and the branch couldn’t access the document and the levy department was closed. I went back again on May 11, and the branch sat on hold with the levy department for over an hour and still couldn’t reach anyone. I even had to go to a second branch just to get the document notarized and faxed again.
Since then, the levy department has been completely unhelpful. I’ve called multiple times, waited 20 to 40 minutes each time, and every time I ask for a supervisor I’m told none are available and that I’ll get a call back, which never happens.
Meanwhile, my account is still frozen. Overdraft fees are piling up, all my automatic payments are being declined, and I’m getting hit with late fees everywhere. This is my ONLY checking account and I literally cannot afford basic necessities right now because of this.
The most frustrating part is that Chase already has the signed notarized release and is just not acting on it. There is zero urgency or concern for the situation they’ve put me in.
I’ve escalated this internally with their “Executive Office” and filed a complaint with the CFPB, but nothing has changed yet.
Has anyone here dealt with Chase’s levy department before or know how to actually get this resolved? Any advice would be really appreciated.
Repurposed by staining and adhering pressed flowers onto an old warehouse pallet collar from my job. Happy with the outcome 🪻🌷
