I have a hard time reconciling multiple aspects of his biography as exemplified in the latest episode. He is the sole designated person to filter women of one of the cities or districts of a city. So…

Question 1: Why just him? This is incredibly inefficient from a bureaucratic standpoint.

Then, the fact that he had authority to create a whole strata of Gilead hierarchy - aunts - is telling he is one of the main guys. So…

Question 2: If he is so important why is he dealing with one concentration camp when most of the US is getting under the Sons of Jacob’s control? Wouldn’t there be millions and millions of women to go through elsewhere?

The episode 6 is the best one in my opinion. I appreciated the reference to the Nazis and to Pinochet. Very chilling.

Unfortunately it left more questions than answers, which always happens when there is anything new that is Gilead-coup related.

This week: Agnes takes her place among the Green girls as the rituals of Gilead womanhood close in around her while Daisy struggles to keep her cover intact at the most dangerous kind of social gathering.

Questions to get us started:

  • What happened to Radio Free Boston?
  • Nicole and Agnes - what happens when a Commander's daughter is a gender traitor in Gilead?
  • What did you make of the ball and the Commanders?
  • Agnes and Garth - what's happening there?
