Car Accident Attorney?

I was in a very minor fender bender a little over a month ago. No injuries on either side but it caused damage to my car. The car is repaired, insurance is doing its thing to recover my deductible since I was not at fault (THANK YOU DASH CAM). Question is, should I acquire an attorney at this point? The last letter I got from the insurance said if I had an attorney to let them know…and somehow social media dug into my data and now I’m getting spammed with ads to contact one.

I’ve never been an accident before with another person so I’m unfamiliar with the proper process or recommended course of action, other than to just wait out insurance. Do I get an attorney to try and recoup some of the cars lost value?

Car tax question

I’ve seen in other counties, like Fauquier, they seem to have a table of what constitutes a “high mileage” car based upon your cars year and its mileage. In Fairfax county, what constitutes a high mileage car? I have a 2010 Toyota RAV4 with 143,000 miles and somehow my tax went up this year slightly.

Reservist needing help with possible USERRA violations. Location: CA

NOTE: I’m posting for @Anonymouspirits707 they have had trouble trying to post this on our Subreddit. Admins, if not allowed my apologies and please delete. See request for help below:

Do you know how FEMA Reservist folks can get support when their employers violate the USERRA & CREW Acts?

My employer made huge mistakes and violated the law 4x in 2yrs and now has me allegedly on the hook for $12k from their mistakes (5th violation), after interfering with my benefits and pay repeatedly. I’ve already reported it to DOL. Legal Aid sent me to Swords + Plowshares but I’m a FEMA Reservist and not a vet, want to respectfully stay in my lane. I’m looking for resources and referrals, not seeking legal representation here (against the subreddit rules). Honestly, I’m not sure where to turn. Thanks.

Fairfax Connector 697 Express Bus

Hey folks, tried to post before but Reddit butchered my post after I tried to make a couple simple edits. Trying again

I’m curious about taking the 697 bus from Fairfax to DC. I have a few questions.

  1. Is this a normal Fairfax connector bus or more of a charter bus since it’s express?

  2. Does it take metro card like the other Fairfax connector busses that connect you to the metros?

  3. Looking at the timetables, how accurate are they (arrival estimates)? It shouldn’t take an hour drive from Stringfellow to 9th & D st at 5:35am if the bus is taking the HOV lanes. Does it usually arrive earlier?

Thanks!

Plug in solar panels?

Hi everyone, I’m curious how these “plug in” solar panels are supposed to work. I have the most basic understanding of electricity, do limited electrical work in my house (changing outlets and switches, that’s it) and always thought that you couldn’t put “back in” electricity from an outlet because it’s not designed for input, it’s designed for output. This is always why I knew if someone got roof solar panels installed, they needed an electrician to install them so it can be properly metered. So how do these plug in solar panels work? Or is it just a scam?

Confused about switching plans and payments

Hello,
I’ve been on SAVE since the start and last month, prior to July 1, I made the decision to change to IDR. I understand that this change doesn’t switch the plan immediately but it looks like payments will start in August. Since it’s highly unlikely the plan will change by then, this won’t count towards my PSLF right? So why do they demand payment before the plan officially changes?

I know I likely forgot to check the proper box when submitting my paperwork. But the hope was that once payments start the plan would have switched.

Survivor holotape: responder Colonel

Has anyone else been able to get this? I don’t mean find it, because I’ve collected this dang holotape like 4 times. The game doesn’t seem to want to give me credit for it. Do I report this bug to Bethesda to get credit or do I have to do something to get it other than to pick up the tape and play it? It’s the last tape I need before completing the challenge.

What do staff make? USA Today breaks it down

A new article from USA Today breaks down the salaries of cruise personnel, with captains unsurprisingly and clearly making the most. I found this interesting since staff are actually not paid too badly, although I do know they work clearly more hours than most do and they don’t get the breaks like others do too. Still, I found this interesting and wanted to share!

Advice for buyback

In a nutshell, I was in SAVE and just processed the application to switch to IDR. I would have been eligible for PSLF in Nov 2025 but the forbearance prevented it, so I submitted a buyback request. I know these requests are taking A LONG TIME. I do plan to make payments until I get the buyback request.

What I’m asking is since we don’t know when the buyback request will come to us since it’s extremely delayed, are people submitting an ECF every month so their buyback will reflect the proper amount? Or every couple of months? From what I’ve read here, if you submit an ECF after you’ve gotten your buyback request amount it will void the buyback request.

Raised garden bed question

Hello gardeners! I have a small raised garden bed in my yard that came with the house when we bought it and was hoping to build another one. The current one has a wood frame which over time is starting to rot. Is there a particular reason (other than cost) why wood is used over a wood grain looking aluminum or steel frame? Or does it not matter? Thanks!

Finally leaving SAVE for IDR

This whole SAVE thing has been so unnecessarily stressful. That coupled with the INSANELY long buyback delay I just said screw it, I’m moving to IDR while it still exists, since apparently it won’t exist after July 1st.

In a nutshell, I’m in the SAVE forbearance. I would have been eligible for PSLF in Nov 2025 if we weren’t forced into forbearance, and have submitted my buyback request in Nov when I was “denied” PSLF.

One of the final straws on this was a USA Today article that said if we don’t switch, the standard plan may be chosen for us and they might not even switch us into an eligible PSLF plan if we don’t request to move, which I would have been eligible for last November if buyback wasn’t so stupidly delayed. I’ve waited this out as long as I could but I think it’s prudent to switch before the good payment plans are gone.

SAVE Buyback and July 1st

I know I’m not the only one waiting this out, but what are those of us that have been in the SAVE limbo and waiting on our buyback requests supposed to do when July 1st comes up and they start throwing these new plans at us?

I know we will have 90 days to comply or whatever, but I’ve been waiting on my buyback request since November 2025. It would behoove this administration to provide buyback guidance before this date

Display shelf uses, can I add stuff?

I’m building out my “secret bunker” shelter and I want an area that looks like a lab. I have the secret lab doors and these shelves but can I put anything in them and how do I do if so? When I walk up to it I don’t get any action buttons, it just sits like an empty shelf.

With the recent, and abrupt, closing of The Boardroom in Clarendon, it makes me wonder two things.

  1. Are there any bars or restaurants in Arlington that the owner of the bar also owns the property? Owning the property would eliminate the scum lords since they don’t report to anyone but themselves. Curious if there are places that own their property.

  2. What is a decent alternative to The Boardroom? Me and my buddies loved to come here and play cards, board games and DnD. It seems most other places are too loud for this type of gameplay.

I can confirm that OCHCO has sent TJOs to everyone that lost their positions in January. From what we’ve been told, these people were never officially out processed, meaning their SF-52 was not updated this entire time and some have still been utilizing their federal health benefits despite not collecting a paycheck.

I’m curious…despite the offboarding letters from HR, since they weren’t fully processed out could they have just continued working this whole time? This whole thing has been a huge cluster eff.
