Broken a possible fibre cement board in bathroom

Removing a bath it had tiles around it with a fibre cement backing which I didn't know can be acm. To remove the tiles it was all smashed away into bits.

I'm waiting for test results now I've found out bathrooms can also have acm!! I'm trying to understand what I should do if it positive?

Should I wet wipe the whole area? If so best way as it's a large surface area for a tiny wipe?

Any other things I should do? should I rent a hepa vacuum?

Get someone in?

External Wall consent cost - makes housing stock worse for everyone

I've done some reading (more than usual..) about external wall insulation, only one council does this right:

Dunedin - Free for external wall consent.

I'm in the middle of a reno of a bathroom reno on a 60s house and it puts a predicament in:

  • Leave insulation out of the room (leaving it freezing in winter)

OR

  • insulate (which is $$) and pay for consent which is $1200??

OR

  • as some have done not tell the council and risk insurance issues / rot of timber if done wrong.

I don't want to be in this house forever, so the ideal is now i have to put gib back on uninsulated because the 1200 is ridiculous to pay for a tick box.

This makes housing worse for everyone and even the blown in insulation consent is much cheaper which may have some of the same risks..

Should i just pay the consent ? or just avoid insulation totally..?

Fence post and house weather board looks weathered!

I just noticed this and looks really bad.

There's a nail through the fence post into the weather board and the panels looks pretty rough.

I am thinking I'll need to remove the nail and seal over, not sure with what though? Is this suitable :

Selleys 430g White No More Gaps Exterior Gap Filler

https://www.bunnings.co.nz/selleys-430g-white-no-more-gaps-exterior-gap-filler\_p1230161

Apply primer to the weathered panels

Then paint with external paint

The scratch in the weather board I'll use some caulk external sealant stuff

The fence may be loose when I take the nail out but that's gotta be better than what currently how ti's done!

Any other tips or recommendations?

Does this meet NZS-42462016 section 8 moisture barrier requirements

Had this done professionally, do you think this meets the recommendations here?

Standards New Zealand

I see alot of piles with no moisture barrrier polythene on them or tape..? and walls wit the barrier just touching (not 50mm up inside wall).

Will this be flagged in a building report? healthy homes inspection?

Workspace Identity Or service principal - SharePoint Online

Has anyone managed to get workspace identity working with SharePoint? I have tried both workspace identity AND service principal but both fail with error:

>
An error occurred while processing this semantic model
Data source error: the credentials provided for the SharePoint source are invalid.

MS support say:

  • We have checked in our backend telemetry, but no related error details were found.
  • After checking internally, we have informed you that Service Principal is currently not supported for SharePoint. Additionally, we have identified an internal issue related to workspace identity, and our product team is actively working on resolving it.
  • We informed you that, at this time, there is no confirmed ETA for the fix.
  • As there is no pending action from our end you have confirmed to close the ticket.
  • Upon your confirmation we are going ahead and closing the ticket.

Under house wood rot

I saw some significant wood rotting mainly near the outside, appears a ingress of water through the vents and via the asbestos sheets possibly.

Bit disappointed cos only been here 12 months and building inspector didn't pick this up.

Any ideas how to fix this? Should I epoxy the wood and harden?

The bit of horizontal wood looks pretty sad, would it be enough to support it in the middle from underneath?

Thank you!

Post wallpaper removal - joint compound and sanding

Ive removed wallpaper and most of the sticky backing now the hard work starts.. Or does it ever end??

I now plan to

fill the hairline crack with joint compound and feather out

Fill holes with polyfiller

Sand and sand again

Then see if I can just primer then paint the wall and see how it looks

We kind of want to avoid plastering as hiring someone is really expensive, so want to see how it goes without replasteirng the wall.

Is this plan achievable or am I missing anything..?

Thank you!

Removing wallpaper, does the plaster and gib look ok

Started doing wallpaper removal, it's horrible. Worst job.

Just wondering if the walls look OK to be prepped to paint? I. E no major defects or something to prevent spending 20 hours removing it all and finding the gib is bad..

Thoughts?

Intune - Common Store policy settings and their impact on Microsoft Store apps doesn't work

I'm troubleshooting a win32 (new Intune store ) deployment which fails every time to users/devices as required.

Checking this link for issues it says:

Add Microsoft Store Apps to Microsoft Intune - Microsoft Intune | Microsoft Learn

>
Common Store policy settings and their impact on Microsoft Store apps

>Disable all apps from the Microsoft Store policy

>Recommended values: Not configured or Enabled. To prevent end users from blocking or turning off this feature, set the value to Enabled.

This immediately blocks apps like the built in print screen and doesn't sit right - Disable all apps - they recommend setting to enabled??

Then the update recommendation is:

>Allow apps from the Microsoft app store to auto update

>Turn off Automatic Download and Install of updates policy

>Recommended values: Not configured or Disabled. To prevent end users from blocking or turning off this feature, set the value to Disabled.

Enabled/disable is not applicable to this setting!

Anyone has issues deploying win32 store apps via Intune where it just says "failed" ?

Azure FortiGate - Azure SDN - No network to management API

Hey all,

I want to set up the Azure SDN to get Azure IPs and tags from Azure.

I've set this up using managed identity but the debugging shows this:

>azd curl retry: https://management.azure.com/subscriptions?api-version=2022-12-01

>azd connection timeout: management.azure.com:443:4.150.240.10

>azd curl retry: https://management.azure.com/subscriptions?api-version=2022-12-01

>azd connection timeout: management.azure.com:443:4.150.240.10

I think this issue is the management NIC doesn't have internet access which is understandable. i cant see the networking requirements for this to work in the documentation. Running a sniffer, i can see the traffic is using the Management NIC.

Should i be making the AzureSDN connector use the external NIC interface for this traffic?

We use fortigates in our org, but it's not clear how to get access to the training labs, it says here I have to buy them but for "fortigate operator nse3" it says na?

https://helpdesk.training.fortinet.com/support/solutions/articles/73000524103-how-do-i-purchase-on-demand-labs-in-online-self-paced-courses-

why is it hard to find out the cost of them? Is there any free options for the labs...?

Can resellers offer this for free if you purchase fortigate licenses through them?
