Y’all I’m from the UK and when I went to the doctors to get a blood test for other things (hep, syphillis etc) I told the nurse who was taking my blood that I have OCD. I asked if this would also detect a herpes infection (I have ghsv1) as I wanted to know the index values. Anyway, she asked why I had asked about herpes testing and I said because I had unprotected sex and unprotected oral sex. She then said to me “as someone with OCD you should have been more careful” and idk, I felt like that was super super rude?? Made me feel so shit 😅

I’ve been trying to work out how I got ghsv1 for months. I was diagnosed back in April. The guy I was seeing told me after we had sex (including oral) even if it was for 4 seconds, that he gets cold sores. He didn’t have one at the time, so must have been shedding. And he used lots of spit. A week later I had my first genital outbreak. It was horrendous. I had a fever of 40. But then he also said he got an outbreak too, down there. And he was very meticulous about checking himself prior, so I don’t think he had an outbreak when we were having sex as he also shaved the second time we had sex so he would have noticed an outbreak too. I’m just so confused.. I’m guessing it was from oral but why did he then have an outbreak too? Did he give himself ghsv1. I thought it was rare to do that if you have cold sores already? I know I might not find the answers but it’s driving me crazy urgh. Thank you

This might sound stupid but I had my first ghsv1 outbreak 3 months ago. All healed now but I’m terrified to even touch myself down there now. I do have really bad OCD. But I keep having to buy gloves to even wash my self down there or anywhere in that region. I feel like showering is so clinical for me now and I hate it. Idk if I’m overreacting. And also masturbation… can I even put my hand on my genitals lol. Omg I just wish I wasn’t scared of my own body.

Hey I was just wondering if anyone’s moved on after receiving a health diagnosis ? I’ve been given a chronic condition and it will effect some areas of my life to some regards and I just wondered if anyone has experienced the same and what you did to feel more positive please :) and maybe just some words of encouragement, I’m determined to not let this diagnosis dictate my life.. thanks so much x

But the thing is, he said he also had an outbreak on his genitals when I was having my first initial outbreak (I had a fever of 40 was really bad) so unless he lied (he already lied about other things) was it transferred to me genital to genital? (which is so rare) 😭😭 and he happened to get his maybe first outbreak because of sex and high stress and it was dormant before that? I’m not sure if I’ve worded it correctly. Basically it would help my mind if he gave it to me orally as genital to genital hsv1 is so uncommon. But confused on why he also had an outbreak. I never had any symptoms before him and I checked myself religiously (very ocd). thank you. I’m female btw

hey, if two people have their first initial outbreak at the exact same time with a fever and sores (down there), what does this mean? Did one of them have the virus and it was dormant? They hadn’t slept with someone since a few months back, and were both under stress. Can someone explain please? Thank you..
