I've followed this band since their debut and loved them since Skinty Fia. Can't wait for their 5th album!

As part of a wholesome thing I started doing with other artists, I've gone through their albums and noted all the songs that I would rank as 10/10.

Anyone that has been to the listening parties, do you have any lyrics you can share from the new songs? Mimesis, One Man, Japan, etc...?

Hi guys. Long time Fontaines fan here but first time posting in this subreddit.

A lot of my friends from different circles are also really big on Fontaines, and like myself they were also super excited for the new record.

However, having spoken to many of them individually over the past week, I can honestly say the unanimous reaction I’ve had is “I didn’t really like Tongue”.

While I don’t hate the track, I have to admit I’m a lot less instantly drawn to the single compared to the vast majority of singles they’ve put out before their last few albums, where I’ve just thought “yeah banger.” On the first play.

Is this a wider opinion among Fontaines fans? And if so, why do we think that is?

I was #300 something in the queue for Fontaines at the Salt Shed in Chicago. My friend was #107. Neither of us got tickets. Were there even any left after both the artist and venue presales?

Why is the word "basics" not so friendly and used for lying?

Was in line for the tickets and got kicked out. By the time I got back in, the tickets had been sold out by 10:04am. Was anyone able to get tickets to this show not on pre-sale?

PS, I signed up for pre-sale a week in advance and I never got a code.

I love when bands do deluxe additions of their albums. I think it’s great when they add new songs or when they do different versions of songs and we got both of those things for Romance so who knows maybe they’ll do something similar this go around too.

I’ve only heard the two released songs so far and I love the sound of this album so far.

Sigh.

I'm so tired of record stores cashing in on fans' love for a band.

Went to the Dopamine Chamber listening party in Marseille yesterday. First off, the album was playing at such a low volume you could barely enjoy it.

But the worst part? The goodies weren't even free. You had to buy a €50 vinyl bundle to get them. €50!! For a single LP, more expensive than the album itself.

Just a little rant about people turning fans' excitement into an easy cash grab. Really disappointing.

Should I get a ticket now or wait till it's closer to the date sometime next year? It's like 80-90 cad for a ticket at the 300 level seats. I can wait for resale tickets next year, but I do worry there'd be a spike in those prices later too.

I was 5xx in the queue but when my turn came to purchase tix were already sold out. Is the venue that small?

After listening to Dopamine Chamber last night, I can say I’m impressed. The album had this overarching eerie feeling, which was almost instantly cut with Grian Chatten’s almost yearning-esque vocals. The Cure, Joy Division/New Order and Depeche Mode inspiration is there, and it makes for a really well produced album with a great sound. Six Shot Morning, Mimesis, Demolition and Intimate really stood out to me, but there was some chatter in our venue - so I couldn’t really hone in on the lyrics. The instrumentation is really a step up. I wasn’t expecting a whole lot of guitars - I was wrong. There were full-fat guitars and it honestly sounded awesome. The drums, I found them to be absolutely wonderful. They were full, loud and played with awesome finesse. The synths felt natural, complimenting the darkness and giving serious synthpop vibes.

I will say, I found there to be a lot of continuity from Romance. There’s definitely some of that sauce still left in - I found some drums, vocals or rhythms to sound like that of a Romance B side - I absolutely love Romance and it isn’t a problem for me.

I’m really looking forward to taking some time with the album and really understand it.

EDIT: After seeing the band live earlier this year - Happy For You is somehow even better in studio. The guitars rock.
