My gecko only eats Pangea and it’s completely out of stock. Help! (UK)

I’ve looked everywhere. I’m in the UK, and apparently its shipping is severely delayed due to new regulations. However, this is the ONLY bag my gecko will eat; he will stick his nose up to anything else. I’ve tried swell reptiles cgd, repashy, all other pangea flavours other than fruit mix, but he needs insects so it’s not amazing for him.

I’ve tried mixing in his fruit mix with other flavours and brands and he always susses it out. He’ll go to lick it as if he is hungry and completely back away once he realises it isn’t his fruit and insect pangea. I’ve completely ran out of it yesterday. Does anyone know where I can get it in the UK, I am literally willing to drive a long distance to get it. Ideally south of England. 🥲🥲

Advice on mouth rot please!

I am almost certain that this is mouth rot now. I’ve taken him to a vet - whom was absolutely useless. Didn’t know anything about the species whatsoever. Said he’s ‘pretty old’ for 7 years. Had to inform him that they can reach 20 in captivity. Shocking. He said that he’ll have to go on 2 weeks of baytril (he already had a two week course a few weeks ago because of another issue, so I’m thinking the mouth rot could be due to that stress). He said if it doesn’t improve they’ll have to put him down!! He doesn’t even look that bad? The infection hasn’t reached the back of his mouth and he’s eating fine/not displaying other symptoms. So so unprofessional. I am looking for advice from someone who has dealt with his before.

He has lost 2 grams since the last vet visit. I am wondering whether I should put him on growth snd breeding formula because he was originally 42g so it’s almost 5% of his body weight.

Does this look like an advanced case of mouth rot or is the vet stressing me out for no reason??

Exotic vet specialist opinion needed please! Suspected mouth rot.

So my crested gecko has been going through a rough time. He was caught by my cat 3 weeks ago, dropped his tail and suffered some scratches. I took him to a nearby vet. This vet absolutely had no idea what he was even looking at. He originally called him a bearded dragon!! During the consultation, he asked to take a picture of him because he’d never seen a crestie before. He was supposedly an exotic vet but didn’t know of crested geckos? Aren’t they one of the most common reptiles kept as a pet??

Anyway, he was prescribed antibiotics (baytril) for the scratches. He finished his two week course and the wounds seem to be healing over perfectly. However, since a few days ago, I have noticed a tiny dark spot on his bottom ‘lip’. It is halfway on his outer lip and half way inside. I am terrified. Suspecting it was soil, I tried to wipe it off carefully with a cotton bud but it doesn’t seem to budge, so I am assuming it is mouth rot. I’m unsure whether this has been caused by stress, a cut from my cat, or his own doing. There are no signs of any other symptoms of mouth rot, he is eating, and acting as usual.

I really don’t know if it is wise to go to the vet I previously went to given his lack of knowledge in the species; but I am aware mouth rot happens to a lot of reptiles. Shall I keep looking for an actual reptile specialist or should I just go asap to the current vet? I am so scared for my baby, this past month is the first time in seven years he has suffered health problems.

I am unable to provide a photo of the dark spot on this subreddit but I do have a picture of it on my profile. Any advice is welcome!!

*if anyone knows of a vet that primarily works with reptiles in or around Essex, UK, please let me know 🥹

Mouth rot?

Noticed this a few days ago - thought it was just some soil stuck on his lip. He still had it today so tried to wipe it off with a cotton bud but he wouldn’t really open his mouth for me to get it. I understand cresties can be more susceptible to it when stressed, and he did drop his tail after a stressful event a few weeks ago. Super worried for my baby. Is this how it usually starts off?

*he was quite active when I was trying to take a picture so it’s terrible quality 🥲

Note: He has just finished a two week course of Baytril. I don’t know if that could be related.

Opening his mouth wide minutes after antibiotics

My boy is getting treated for a couple small cat scratches with antibiotics (baytril 2.5%) and painkiller (locixom). He’s been taking it very well. However, since yesterday evening’s dose (the 4th day), he’s been opening his mouth after receiving the medication. It isn’t immediately after he licks it, but maybe a minute or two? I’m hoping it’s just a reaction to the bad taste, but I would assume that he would do that as I’m giving to him or immediately after. It doesn’t feel defensive because he’s not looking at me while he does it, nor biting me during the dose. Is this a cause for concern? I’m super worried about my baby :(

My freshly-frogbutt boy 🥹

It’s hard to get used to, but he’s still so adorable. I’m getting his tail preserved in a jar, because I just can’t let it go. The saddest part for me is realising I’ll no longer be able to feel it wrap around my hand/fingers😔 More than anything, I’m just so glad he’s okay and on the road to recovery <3

*temporary enclosure while he heals

Is this a suitable fresh frogbutt enclosure?

My baby dropped his tail two nights ago. Is this temporary enclosure adequate? It has his favourite hide with the plant that usually covers it (there’s watermarks on it, not waste) and his rope he loves to climb on. I’m changing the paper towel every morning and misting it lightly, carefully aiming at the walls to not wet his bum. Behind the plant is a shallow water dish and I’m offering him some watered-down pangea every night (he’s on antibiotics).
I feel so bad for my lil boy🥲 I’m expecting him to stay in here for maybe 1.5 weeks, depending on how fast he heals. You think I should add more coverage? I just really don’t want to risk him falling/jumping and injuring his fresh wound.

Cat attack update

So last night my cat managed to get my boy (entirely my fault for leaving the enclosure open).
I didn’t see at the time but he had a tiny little scratch near the base of his tail. I took him to the vets as soon as they opened this morning - and the vet that looked at him didn’t really seem to know anything about crested geckos. He initially told me ‘I’m sure it’ll grow back’ about his tail drop… hello?? I had to educate him! He ended up prescribing me these two oral medicines, that are supposedly primarily for cats?

I’ve called up another vet for a second opinion and they say that they are usually used for reptiles but I would just like to see if anyone else has used these for their cresties as well. And because it’s such a tiny tiny drop of the two liquids a day.. how did you go about giving it to them? They’ve provided me with syringes but I was thinking maybe the best bet is to get a droplet on my finger and wipe it along his mouth for him to lick it?

I’m honestly so disappointed that the vet didn’t know anything about him. Even took his phone out to take a picture of him (can’t blame him, he’s adorable). I also only paid £90… and I know you’ll probably think that’s very lucky but I did expect to pay for a more thorough examination :(

Heartbroken

My cat got him. He’s alive but i’m absolutely devastated, literally cant stop crying. What type of behaviour is normal after this?? He’s hidden himself and is breathing a little irregularly, really slowly. He’s got no bite marks and seems to be physically okay I’m just so worried, do I go to the vet? Also how do I look after his wound? He had 7 years with his tail, I’m really going to miss the way he latches on to my hand :((

Update:
He’s been to the vets this morning. He’s going to be okay thankfully!! Has been prescribed two weeks worth of pain killer and antibiotic oral medications (he has a tiny little scratch near his bottom that I didn’t notice😢). Super super upset about his tail, I was so proud of him having it for as long as he did, but I know this is very common; I am just so so grateful I walked into the room at that moment. I’d take his lil frog butt over him being gone any day. Probably going to preserve his tail though.
Thank you all for your advice and support, honestly💚
