I’m m 18 looking for a legal perspective on a situation involving my previous employer and work I witnessed.
I was hired in Nevada as a supervisor and was verbally promised a salary of $2,500 per month before taxes, paid every two weeks. I have text messages showing the pay that was discussed. I was sent to Texas for work based on that agreement, but I ended up only being paid around $1,500 per month. I was also doing much more physical labor than the supervisor role I was hired for.
I never signed a written employment contract agreeing to a lower salary or different job duties. Because I could not afford to live on the amount I was receiving, I quit and returned to Nevada.
While working conventions in Las Vegas, I also witnessed what I believe may have been labor issues involving minors. There were workers who appeared to be around 16–17 years old working at events that were 18+ and involved cannabis and nicotine products. Some of these minors were directly handling those products. I have photos and there are multiple people who witnessed this and could confirm what happened.
There was also a housing situation connected to the job. I rented a place in Texas from a woman who was friends with my boss. I paid a deposit, but we never signed a written lease. When I decided to leave early because of the pay situation, she refused to return my deposit. I was eventually able to recover the money by canceling/reversing the payment, so I am not currently seeking that money back, but I am mentioning it because it was part of the overall situation.
My questions are:
Do I potentially have a claim for being promised one salary but being paid another?
Do text messages help prove a verbal pay agreement?
Does changing my job duties from supervisor work to mostly physical labor matter legally?
Should I report what I witnessed involving minors handling cannabis and nicotine products? If so, who should I contact?
Is there anything I should do to protect myself or preserve evidence?

I’m m 16 about to turn 17 thinking about joining the air force once I graduate my dream was to become a pilot but school is not for me though I wouldn’t be opposed to studying I know pilots are the best of the best I’ve been interested in either pj or security forces but id like advice on how I could choose a career were I would do interesting things but also make money doing it.
