Is it worth asking management company to lower rent?

I'm in a situation where my income has changed for the worse (dropped by $600 a month), and I'm currently putting 70% of my income towards rent. It does not feel sustainable, and I don't want to keep relying on credit cards to bridge the gap with other necessary expenses. Living with roomates is not an option (won't go into why, just saying, "find a roommate" isn't the suggestion I'm looking for ;) )

And so, I'm considering moving. I currently spend $2450 for a 1 bedroom with parking (all utilities included, there are no other "amenities" , no a/c, no in suite laundry.....it's your very basic PBR building). There are many empty units in my building currently, and long time renters pay as little as $1600 in my same building for same size unit.

Should I inquire with my building management whether they would be willing to lower my rent before deciding to move? Is that laughable?? I'm assuming they would prefer to keep a good tenant then add to yet another empty unit.

I'm open to hearing from renters and landlords......landlords, is this something you would consider, in this market? Tenants, have you ever been successful in requesting a rent reduction?

Thank you :)

walk-up window service coffee shops?

Looking for suggestions of coffee places that I can order and grab a coffee while out for a walk with my dog! I can't tie her up outside because she is very small.

Open to suggestions anywhere in city!

Edited to say - THANK YOU, so many great recommendations I will save in a google map for our "field trips" around the city.

For those of you who work full time, how many days (weeks, months...) do you take off sick due to your illness(es)?

Of course I stress about this all the time, and while comparing myself to others is not very useful (as everyone's situation is different - supportive employer, finances, supports, etc), I am curious if my experience is.....relatable to anyone ? I think the past few years, I've taken off about 70-90 days/year on average. Sometimes I only take 2-3 days at a time, but more often than not if I'm off, it's for 1-2 weeks at a time, and longest absence was 9 weeks (not including the 2 instances of long-term disability - 2.5 years each, total of 5 years off on LTD over the course of 13 years of employment with this employer).

My job is fairly secure given where I live/local laws, as well as being employed in public sector/unionized. But of course I'm constantly anxious and worried about loosing my job some day.

What is your experience with this?

Does this sound familiar? Sudden and severe nausea/vomiting triggered by very loud music/deep bass (deep vibrations in chest)??

I have POTS/dysautonomia and migraine for context (POTS diagnosed by cardiologist and apparent dysautonomia symtpoms).

Yesterday I was walking my dog and came upon an outdoor street festival with really loud music (likely using many subwoofers), so loud that I could feel the vibrations in my body. I had been feeling well most of the day, but within a few minutes of coming into close contact of the loud music/deep vibrations in chest, I was overcome with severe nausea, and I began projectile vomiting.

Could the body vibrations from the deep bass have actually triggered this? Or am I imagining it? It has also been very hot (86-115 def Fahrenheit) the past few weeks and I have had migraine on and off for several weeks......so maybe it was just a coincidence.

Thoughts? Has anyone experienced body vibrations/deep bass triggering dysautonomia symptoms?

Edited to add: ok, I did some more research, and for some folks deep base/loud noise can cause vestibular issues, the equivalent to intense motion sickness, and it can result in nausea/vomiting. So yeah, this is totally what happened to me! I guess it makes sense that I would be extra sensitive/prone to vestibular issues with having chronic migraine and dysautonomia. I just had never had this severe of a reaction to noise/bass before! It really seemed to come out of nowhere so quickly.
