I served for 15 years. When I got out, I used my post 9/11 GI bill and then moved to VR&E to finish up my BS. I was close to the 48-month limit. I have heard and read in new places that the rules changed back in 2024 to where now I can still use my MGIB since I paid for it, and that I don’t have the 10-year limit after getting it. I got out in 2013.

If this is in your account, call them and ask them to reimburse you. They will claim they can only reimburse 6 months, however, if you tell them about the legality of it (very illegal in california) and then tell them you plan on filing a complaint with California Department of Consumer Affairs, they will give you a credit to make up for the whole time you have been getting charged for it. If they state they will not reimburse, then file a complaint. I am sure they will be forced to reimburse after that. For other states, I am sure they have laws and a consumer protection agency.
