Cancel Seville trip bc of the heat wave?

Any Spaniards can speak on the heat wave? I heard people are dying?

I was excited to go to Gibraltar and the white towns but people are encouraging me not to go because of heat. This will probably be my last free summer and time for a while before law school.

Working during 2L and 3L?

If you worked during 2L and 3L, do you recommend it? with the student loan cap I am realizing I will need an income these two years. I did work throughout college but know the rigor of law school is more demanding. What jobs are best suited for this? Being a server?

BL exit options if you’re burned out at year 1?

If you have a t14 sticker worth of debt and you realize you can not gut the billing hours component of BL, what are your options? Is it too late to switch to PLSF?

Is there ever a benefit to going to a T6 (current rankings) over HYS at sticker?

On the WL for HYS but received a half tuition at one of the current US rankings T6 schools. Thinking about withdrawing for peace of mind.

Grateful for this position but mainly asking because my goal has always been to be a law professor but the pay, debt, time away from future kids/family is making me second doubt it. But no doubt that I love research and teaching. Is it genuinely significantly more attainable at HYS?

If you worked in big law before school, when do you wish you quit before starting school?

Incoming 1L, maxing out on fed loans trying to collect a few more checks but at the same time realizing I have the rest of my life at a firm life too

Mentality from LBWT going into 1L then BL if my ultimate goal is get married and have kids?

starting 1L this fall at a T14 and I’ll be 26. I mention the school because I’ll likely need to pursue BigLaw to pay off roughly $200k in loans, so I’m anticipating a pretty demanding few years.

the men I go on dates with by seeing my school and career think I’ll be making enough money so they often date me so they can have me cover or split with them😭

did any LBWT/women intentionally put dating on hold during law school and the early BigLaw years? If so, do you regret it?

i will be 29 when I graduate, and seeing friends freeze their eggs has me wondering whether I’m underestimating the timeline for finding a partner and starting a family.

for women who went through law school and/or BigLaw in their late 20s, how did you approach dating?

Took UVA at half ride and having regrets not choosing the T20 on a full ride. Anyone else in the same boat?

It is time to pay tuition and even with everything I have to my name and with scholarships I will need to max fed loans to be in 150k debt total. I can not even buy a $2 red solo cup without feeling immense guilt because of the debt I will be in. I've never been in debt and was on the Pell Grant and some other Indigenous American-related scholarships in college. Is anyone in the same boat here having buyers remorse?

How do you handle the psychological pressure of $180k in law school debt?

Incoming 1L here. I grew up low-income, Indigenous, was on Pell Grants throughout college, and never imagined taking on this much debt.

For those who graduated with significant law school debt, how did you stop worrying about it and stay focused on school? Looking back, would you still choose the higher-ranked school over a full ride?

Would especially appreciate perspectives from first-gen or low-income students.

How to deal with people saying stuff like “oh you’re gonna make so much money” when you tell them what type of law you wanna do?

I grew up FGLI and I’ll have family abroad that are low-income saying since I’m doing big law that I’ll make so much money and they don’t understand how much debt I’ll be in like it’s not all that. Any other LBWT deal with similar experiences? Thank you

For those who worked before law school, when did you quit your job before 1L?

I’m trying to balance earning a few more paychecks against having enough time to move, travel a bit to see family in Uganda, reset, and show up mentally refreshed.

Looking back, do you wish you had worked longer, or do you wish you had given yourself more time off before classes started?

Curious what people who have already been through law school and BigLaw would recommend.i will be starting at t14 if that helps with the decision.

Does it make a difference if you live 6 mins from school vs 18 mins walk from school for 1L grades?

Also if you have a roommate that is also a grad student in a time intensive program vs getting a studio and splurging more?

Incoming 1L, roommate vs studio, 6 min walk commute vs 18 min walk commute?

hey all! incoming 1L. I am about to sign a lease but wanted to get your take on whether a 6 min walk versus an 18 min walk to campus matters. The further one is downtown and in a more grad student established building and the closer one has more of undergrads since it’s close to school. I’m also thinking of getting a roommate since a studio is 2100 but a 2 bed is anywhere from 1600-1800. what are your thoughts?

thank you!

*edit: the one with a shorter commute has only 1 grocery store nearby that has limited produce. the 18 min commute one has 2 grocery stores nearby for more convenience. Idk if that makes a difference
