Committing a crime and getting away with it is worse for the criminal than for the victim.

The criminal commits a bad action, and remains unpunished by it, thus becoming a bad person and staining their soul. The victim has no choice in his suffering, but his soul remains free from the evil that plagues the criminal.

To go even further, that criminal, if given the choice to run away or turn himself in, should always choose to turn himself in for his own benefit, since punishment, being a good thing, makes him a better person.

"Body positivity" has devolved into toxic positivity that rewards denial and punishes honest self-improvement.

True body acceptance isn't about forcing yourself to feel attractive 24/7 or demanding that the rest of the world validate your appearance. It’s about neutral self-respect, recognizing your physical body as a functional tool that deserves basic care, health, and decency, regardless of whether it fits a current aesthetic ideal.

"Preference" in dating is almost always just socially acceptable bigotry that people rebrand to avoid feeling like a bad person.

The moment someone insists that an entire demographic category (whether defined by height, race, trans status, body type, etc) is an absolute, non-negotiable "dealbreaker" regardless of the individual, they aren't describing a taste or a preference. They are describing a learned prejudice. True physical attraction is contextual and dynamic, but society lets people hide behind the phrase "it's just my preference" because admitting that our desires are heavily conditioned by systemic biases makes everyone uncomfortable.

Beauty is not the eye of the beholder.

Calling something "beautiful" implies that it has some property which is beautiful, and is something anyone can appreciate. Differences in preferences arise when one is ignorant of what beauty is. For example, a trained musician of 30+ years could talk to you for hours on why Bach is beautiful, while someone who's never listened to classical music might dismiss him as boring. This isn't because they're both right, but because one is more educated about the beauty of music than the other.

It's frustrating when people reduce debates to subjectivism, especially if they have no grounds to say this.

Furthermore, even if you believe beauty is subjective, it still implies you believe it's something. You're just arguing that your view is your own. That's great, but what is your view on it then? If beauty is in the eye of the beholder, what does your eye behold?

So please, stop cutting discussions short with this lazy cliché.

Monogamy is a kink

Limiting ourselves to one partner goes against human nature: we naturally find many people attractive and capable of being loved. Monogamy is essentially a kink: reserving exclusive loyalty might heighten pleasure for some, but it’s poorly suited for the masses, as proven by high breakup and divorce rates.

Ethical non-monogamy makes far more sense for most people. Why not treat romantic relationships like friendships? Nobody restricts themselves to a single friend, taking huge risks on one person only to realize it was a waste of time. Furthermore, traditional monogamy breeds toxicity by treating partners as possessions who owe you total emotional exclusivity, ignoring the fact that love isn't a finite resource.

Monogamy shouldn't disappear. Like any kink, if it works for you, enjoy it. But it should never be the default expectation.
