I automated most of my Shopify store operations using flow. Here's what changed for me

Before i got obsessed with Shopify flow, running my store felt like a full time job:

Before:

- woke up, manually checked overnight orders for anything weird

- spreadsheet to track high risk orders. Updated by hand

- Didn't even know which customers were repeat buyers until i dug into analytics

This was after doing $100k+ in revenue. I was busier than ever and kind of miserable.

After the flow was setup properly:

- high risk orders flagged and paused automatically before fulfillment

- Repeat customers tagged in real time, VIP discount triggered for them automatically

- My morning routine went from 45 min of firefighting to 5min Review

Not gonna lie, it took me a month to learn and set it up initially. But i have never gone back. Building a second store alongside this now and flow is the first thing im setting up before i even run any ads. Its Easy and beginner friendly.

Would love to know what you guys are automating using flow and what you wish Flow couldnt do yet?

We are going to test shopify apps so you dont have to

There are thousands of Shopify apps out there and honestly figuring out which ones are actually worth installing can be a problem.

Being a Store owner , running a 7+ figure store , and also being a moderator of this community, i see a lot of posts here on which shopify apps are actually useful. Honestly there's no single answer to this and this depends on particular store type and situation.

What we decided is that ,Every 14 days , the mods will pick one Shopify app category and break down some of the most relevant apps in that space.

I will be looking at them from a merchant's perspective and not just reading the features on their listing. We will actually dig into what is it like to use them

The results will be based on a combination of :

- My own experience using the apps

- experiences from fellow friends and other merchants

- Shopify app reviews

- reddit discussions

- other online reviews and merchant feedback.

We will be looking at things that actually matter:

Pricing, usefullness, ease of setup, customer support, reliability, value for money and problems you only discover after installation

We will be starting the first review in 14 days.

Which all Shopify app categories would you want us to review?

Can you leave your Shopify store for 7 days without it falling apart?

Saw someone mentioning this idea recently on a community and it got me thinking:

" Could you step away from your Shopify business for a week without constantly checking your phone? "

And most of the answers were NO

I think a lot of us approach automation in a wrong way. We automate because we want to save 10 min or 30 min a day . Lately i have been trying to think it differently.

Instead of asking " what can i automate to save time ?" I am asking " what can i automate so my business doesnt depend on me ?"

This changes everything for me. Think about your store.

- what if inventory runs low

- order needs to be edited

- customer emails with a different question

- what if your team needs to make a decision while you are away

If every answer is " i will handle it when im back" you are still far.

Im not saying every task should be automated. Some decision always need a human. But I'd encourage everyone building a Shopify store to optimize for independence, not just efficiency.

I m working on fixing this on my store right now which does over 200 orders /weekly. I will share whats working for me and what isnt once i document the processes properly.

What claude skills are worth using for shopify?

I have been experimenting with claude code for my shopify workflow over the past few weeks but i feel like im only using a fraction of what it is capable of.

Right now i use it mainly for coding, SEO and content but after seeing people build things like SEO pipelines, CRO agents and automations. I am curious what everyone else is using.

What are the most valuable claude skill ,Mcp or custom workflow you have built for your store and which has genuinely saved you hours or made a noticeable impact on your business..

Im looking to discover some underrated workflow and learn how other Shopify owner are using claude code beyond obvious use cases.

How are you optimizing your Shopify store to drive sales from chatgpt?

I have been seeing more people talk about getting traffic from chatgpt and other AI assitants, but I still don't understand what actually makes a Shopify store show up in recommendations.

I know about the basics like SEO, product pages, reviews, and schema makeup, but is there anything specific that's helping stores get recommended by Chatgpt?

Would love to hear from anyone who's intentionally optimized for Ai search or has real results to share ( No apps please)

What stuff have you actually automated in your Shopify store?

If you run a Shopify store, im curious on what you have genuinely automated or improved with AI.

Everything from store setup to daily operations count.

For us. The best automations were boring but helped us keep our revenue run steady. Welcome flow, abandoned cart, post purchase emails, simple winback. It saves us hours every week and keeps revenue steady in background.

What have been the similar automations for you? Which saved you both time and money.

50 fake order were hit by bot on my store. Found one free setting to fix it.

My store was getting hit by multiple fake orders. The name and address were all fake.

At first, i tried multiple things :

- hcaptcha on cart and checkout

- cloudflare

- blocked few country Ips

Nothing worked.....

Then I dug into logs and found the logs. They were never touching our domain directly but hitting the store.shopify.com directly . The protection we built wasn't doing anything for traffic . Called Shopify support and instead got asked to delete everything manually . (Yes manually lol)

So i changed this

Settings -> checkout -> require customer to login

That's it. Just this much... And the attack stopped overnight. This one friction point was enough.

And yes, id lose some guest checkout conversions but fake order destroying my store data and email flow is a much bigger loss for me

Found it worth sharing. Thanks:)

One small change in my store increased our AOV by over 15% ( and why you should do this too)

I spent months trying to increase traffic until I found that the easiest revenue was already sitting in our existing order.

Once your website is up and running, and you are getting your first sales, congrats! That's a big milestone. It only gets easier from here. The main thing is not to stop.

The next easy thing you should focus is on your UPSELLS, increasing your **AOV (**average order value). Our AOV was $86.40 three quarters back, and now it's $100.80. Having an upsell funnel is the leverage every business should work upon.

Think of Upsell like this : A portion of your clients would definitely spend more $ with you, but by not offering anything else, you are leaving money on table. The better you offer and the more relevant your upsells are, the bigger that portion will grow.

To make it effective, you need to:

- put it in front of their faces and ,

- make it easy for them, the less friction

There are two types of post-purchase upsells when it comes to Shopify's buying funnel. Post-buy and Thank you page.

Our customers see offers on the products they chose not to buy with better discount. At the moment we offer a 12% pre purchase max . Post purchase it is 15-20% , it's your take it or leave it offer .

Post purchase upsells principles :

1. One click buy is a must here ( you need an app that will allow your clients to upsell them with the payment information they already entered) . This has been the biggest AOV booster for us so far.

  1. Slightly higher offer. Remember, it's your take it or leave it offer.

  2. Make your upsells funnels relatable. Red T-shirt added to cart -> upsell red shorts with higher discount they'd get usually. You can use different tools to get this done.

There's more to unpack but these are the main principles and thinking processes that allowed us to increase our AOV by 15%.

I am sure if you dedicate a couple of days into creating, and then taking your clients on an upsell journey, you will see disproportionate return on your time..

If you are using an upsell App or tool, let me know how your results have been or if you want to add anything to info provided .

Hope you gained value out of this post.

Can anyone provide his contact?

I urgently need the contact of the guard who is on the main gate usually. He is tall, wears a cap, clean shaven. He is from jammu kashmir or himachal. Can anyone help me with his number or contact. I am not in college currently. ( My friend's vehicle is seized, and I have changed my phone. Can't find his number)

Are you Doing anything yet about AI recommendng stores in your category?

More customers seems to be asking Chatgpt, gemini etc more then google now. I have been wondering how much store owners can actually influence that vs. how much is just whoever has the most signals online already.

Been reading upon " generative engine optimization" Are you doing anything about it or treating it as not worth the effort yet?

EU sellers - What are you doing about the new 14 day withdrawals rule?

If you sell into the EU, the new rule means customers need an easy way to cancel/withdraw for 14 days, with a proper confirmation flow. Not just a buried contact us button.

Trying to figure out what people are actually doing?what's your stack?

Is claude/gpt/deepseek + Shopify actually a game changer?

I have been seeing so many posts and youtube videos saying that you need to connect claude and Shopify else you will be left behind.Obviously most of them are coursesellers but I am wondering what are you using this MCP, CLI for ,and what are the most useful things this could possibly do?

I myself have started learning it and it's incredible if you use it right. I have been using it to implement new features which otherwise would cost $$$ if I hired a dev.

What are the things you are using Ai for in your store and what have been the results so far

Simple changes that improved my Shopify store's conversion rate by over 15%.

I have seen a lot of stores getting decent traffic but still struggling with conversions , I was one of them few months back and honestly it's very frustrating. Here are few things which actually moved a needle for my store:

  • Product page clarity + strong offers made the biggest difference for us. We ran a lot of AB testing for the same.

  • made branding and colors consistent throughout ( maximum 3 colours at a time)

  • Trust badges made a huge difference for us. Even small things like reviews, guarantees or clear policies make a big difference in trust

  • using a Cart abandoned Shopify flow worked great for us. It basically acts as a safety net for all the traffic i already paid for . I learnt that sometimes #1 fix isnt just a better offer, it's reminding people who forgot to hit the buy button.

Interested in knowing what has worked for you guys? Was it your product page, offer, creatives or something else . Would love to hear real experiences.

Edit - I just noticed the title. It was supposed to be 1.5 not 15
