My take on what the Obession is
Regarding the movie "Obsession". I believe that based on all of the internal clues from the film and external clues from the primary sources that Freaky Nikki is an entity that was created by the One Wish Willow that possess the real Nikki.
Some suggests that Nikki suffers from BPD (I won't committ to a belief in that) My belief is that Nikki is attempting to bury the Freaky Nikki persona in the past in a normative sense of what her reputation was......However, I believe that the entity is separate force, the entity is using the perceived Freaky Nikki persona as the inspiration for the takeover of her soul. This seems to be supported by the fact that towards the end of the film the entity is completely self-aware of the wish and seems to mock Bear for creating this mess, the entity also makes every attempt to cover up the fact that Nikki is attempting to reclaim her faculties. But to support my case I have outlined some observations.
- The love Nikki exhibits doesn't feel like her own, even if we concede it was supernaturally enhanced.
We can imagine what it would be like to love someone 11/10 and it probably wouldn't end up entailing creating an alter for a dead animal (unless we assume the true Nikki's alter ego would be capable of this, which seems like an assumption).
It's very clearly that the real Nikki is in a purgatory like state when she is not in the driver seat, at times she is viewing things through Freaky Nikki's POV, at times she is completely absent (this is why when she comes through she acts surprised by the enviornment at times). Also the fact that the phone operator was also able to visit or conjure Nikki's soul clearly shows her experience is supernaturally accessible if other people have access to it. It's very clear that she only regains her faculties when the entity is asleep.
Throughout the film Nikki is able to slightly break through, when she writes statements like "Not me" which seems like a stretch if her own alter ego was responsible even if her natural alter ego was constituted and put in control of her other self-conception.
The entity has extreme strength not indicative of anything Nikki should be capable of? Nikki doesn't come across as someone who has brute strength, but to beat someone's skin entirely off their face albeit even by slamming it against a brick, the angle she did it from was not adventagious. Also her ability to use a handgun with instant bulls-eye like accuracy without hesitation seems....odd?
Now this could just be for the movies effect, but it does seem very intentional with how effective she is at causing carnage but ineffective at everything else; what's stranger is that the director said the wishes aren't inherently evil, however wishes can have extreme consequences when carelessly used.
If Freaky Nikki never was a persona why would her actions have been different or the same? I think this gets to the main question.
Final Verdict: Nikki is possessed, not by anything demonic but by an entity that was created by a powerful wish request that needed to be fulfilled to the utmost.
