NATLA Way to early review

I’m only two episodes in so I’ll try and keep this short first so far my favorite part of season two is the Sokka and Suki relationship I feel like the actors do a really good job embodying the characters, especially Sokka.

Secondly as of right now, I think Zuko’s actor is by far the best of the young kids acting and would love to see him in some other stuff.

Katara seems a little relegated right now. Toph seems appropriately overpowered, which is one of my favorite things about her in the cartoon and I think all the criticism against Azula’s actress is a little overblown.

Ned, Ashara, Baby Jon

So I’m just recently reading up on the whole Ned
and Ashara plot line. Just my take, and I’m very much an amateur on the subject, but it seems to me the her stillborn could have been Neds. Again not an expert. I’m curious are there any fics where Ned leaves baby Jon with her in Starfall and he grows up in Dorne raised by Ashara? I’m sure there is, and if there isn’t, is there any hunger for a fic like that? Maybe like a sudo dornish revenge/targ restoration? Idk just thinking out loud.

Searching for other late 20’s early 30’s dads like me who are nostalgically clinging to the bloated corpse of their childhood just like me to yap about this show with.
Spoilers obviously so be warned!
I really enjoyed the show. Star Wars animation (minus Resistance) in my opinion good job has always done a really good job with story. I’m not sure how much Dave Filloni was involved or if it was the darker tone or if how it was reported that the show draws heavily off of George Lucas’s plans for a sequel trilogy, but I feel like the show in general has a real “Star Wars“ feeling to it that I really enjoyed. The art style and characters were all unique and likable almost to a man. As someone who grew up playing the force unleashed, I love hearing Sam Wittmer as Maul and from what I can tell from the videos I have seen of him talking about Star Wars he is a real fan of the material he’s working on and few people these days bring the passion he notably does to his craft. I really liked Captain Lawson, Rylee (who is the weakest character in the show) and Two Boots. Love to see a dad doing his best to give his son a good life. Really hit home and that mustache was epic. Devon and her master were the biggest surprises for me, and the show did a great job at getting me attached while still telegraphing that the Master was most likely going to die. Devon is very much a distinct character with personality and layers. I was worried she was just going to be another Ashoka (i actually like Ashoka I don’t mean that in a bad way) but she wasn’t. She had limits and you could tell where the ceiling from her Jedi training was especially fighting against the inquisitors. She also had flashes of talent and heat when she leaned into the dark side and her fall was really well done, mauls manipulation was Sidious level and I can’t wait to see how they turn out.
When I heard that Darth Vader was going to be making an appearance I kinda sighed and rolled my eyes but damn does it not work every time on me. The guy is just a force of nature and looked so good in the animation style. The show is a 9/10 IMO and the only reason why it’s not a 10/10 is that I don’t think they needed Maul to push Daki in the fight with Vader. Yes I understand Maul is a bad guy and you aren’t really supposed to feel bad for him but I think you could have gotten the same outcome (Devon’s fall to the dark side) with out it. Vader was obviously winning that fight and was going to kill Daki anyways, I know this is laying the ground work for the eventual Maul Devon split but I just don’t think it was necessary and kinda cheapens what Maul and Devon could have been… but that’s probably the point.

If you made it this far thank you for wasting 5 minutes of your life you are never getting back to read my clearly amateur take.

Not sure if this is the right place for this but I’ll give it a go.

I’m currently working on a Star Wars AU fic that takes place during the imperial civil war shortly after the death of the Emperor and Vader at Endor.

The short premise is that the grand nephew of Count Dooku was hidden from the emperor when he presumably purged the entire Dooku family after the rise of the empire. The boy was trained secretly in the ways of the force using holocrons left by count Dooku, so he’s a dark side user but not exactly a sith. Also spent his young adult hood working for the ISB. Or at least that’s my working theory right now. But back to my dilemma. He takes over Serreno and in the chaos of the imperial collapse he’s expanding his holdings and forces. There is a much deeper political layer but I don’t really need to get into it.

The problem I’m running into is that eventually the New Republic will come after him and the faction he’s building. Well trained imperial forces are the core of his forces and will eventually be supplemented by separatist styled units eventually. I need a ship that is big enough to serve as a deterrence to the new republic with out being big enough that they are like “oh we gotta smoke this guy before he gets outta pocket.” The two ships I’ve settled on being a flagship for his navy are either a Subjugator class heavy cruiser or a Bellator Star Dreadnaught.

The Subjugator has the ion weapon and is smaller then the SSD but isn’t as well rounded as the Bellator in being a ACTUAL command center and flagship.

I know this is long, thank you for reading this far. Any feedback would be appreciated.
