Nothing hurts more than this...

The curse of being a new writer just waiting for that first sign of life. I’ve been putting my heart into my writing, but staring at my inbox with zero comments and zero unread messages is honestly getting to me.

Am I the only one going through this? It feels like I’m shouting into a void. I’m not asking for reviews, I just need to know if anyone else felt this invisible when they first started. Does it get easier, or am I just being a bit dramatic?

If you were one of the friends in this forest, how are you reacting to this horror?

I’m genuinely thankful for all the responses I got on my last post! Here is the first outcome and probably the last for the character's reckless decision.

I’d love to get your thoughts—not on the writing style (I’ve already had a very 'tough pill to swallow' lesson on that!), but purely on the scene itself. If you find this part cringe, feel free to skip!

And call me a psycho, but I actually found this vampire’s entrance kind of hot. Like, sir, you didn’t have to appear that close to Ava! 🔥

So, question for you all: If you were one of the other characters witnessing this unfold, what would your reaction be? Make it funny, humans!

How would you handle blame in survival-themed plot logic?

I’m currently mapping out a scene for a story and wanted to get some outside perspectives on character responsibility and narrative logic.

The Scenario:

A group of friends takes a shortcut in a car and ends up stranded in a desolate, dark forest when the vehicle runs out of fuel. Because they feel unsafe staying with the abandoned car, they decide to walk 10 kilometers in the dark to reach a highway, where they eventually encounter a hostile threat.

I’m interested in your thoughts, who exactly is to be blame the Friend who suggested the shortcut drive? Or the one who suggested to walk?

Spoiler - That Threat happened to be a Vampire.

Best cost-free strategies for promoting indie novels in the BL / MM Romance genre?

Hello everyone,

I am an indie author preparing to launch an original Boys' Love (BL) web novel featuring dark romance and Omegaverse tropes. As a beginner operating on a $0 marketing budget, I am feeling a bit overwhelmed by the landscape.

For those who write in the M/M or BL subgenres, what have been your most successful, cost-free strategies for finding your initial audience and building organic visibility?

I am currently exploring platforms like AO3 and Inkitt and Readawrite but I would love to know if there are specific networking avenues, newsletter swaps, or social media strategies that work best specifically for this niche.

Thank you so much for any guidance you can share!

Question for international BL/Omegaverse readers: How do you usually discover original web novels?

Hey everyone! I’m a debut indie author who recently started publishing a multi-POV, dark Omegaverse BL novel on platforms like AO3 and Inkitt.

In Asia, the Yaoi/Danmei/BL fandom is massive, but as an international/English-language writer, I’m struggling to find my footing. I know international hits like Heated Rivalry prove the global appetite for M/M romance is huge, but right now, publishing online feels a bit like shouting into a silent void.

As readers, how do you usually find original, indie BL web novels? Do you rely strictly on very specific tags on AO3, or do you look for recommendations on social media? If you read serials/web novels, what is the biggest thing that makes you click on a new, unknown author's work?

Just trying to understand the international market a bit better and see if I need to adjust my tagging or platform strategy. Thank you so much.

Be honest: Would you click on this front cover? (Vampire / Omegaverse BL Fiction) (Cover clarification)

Hey everyone! I posted earlier but realized the screenshot I used (the full paperback wrap) was super confusing and made it look like a placeholder or a poster instead of an actual book listing.

Here is how the actual single front cover looks on Amazon!

I’ve poured my soul into this story. It's a mix of Vampire Lore and Omegaverse tropes, featuring heavy political drama, treason, and deep psychological dilemmas.

Now that you can see just the front cover format, would this catch your eye while scrolling? Honest feedback is always welcome! 🩸🖤

Here is the Blurb👇

In the shadows of the Vampire lineages, a new breed struggles to exist.

The Hybrids.

Born from a dark history of experimentation and lust.

Hybrids are caught in a crosscurrent of identities.

Neither fully paranormal nor fully human.

While the world above moves in ignorance.

A delicate peace holds the shadows of the brokens together.

It is a peace built on the corpses of the fallen.

And on the restraint of those who refuse to become predators.

But as ancient greeds resurface,

and brutal laws threaten a return to the cycle of oppression,

the fragile peace begins to shatter.

In a world where the boundaries b/w hunter & hunted have blurred.

Ten souls from every corner of the hierarchy find themselves on

a collision course with destiny.

Five forbidden unions are taking root in the darkness.

crossing lines they were never meant to touch.

As hearts become the ultimate battlefield,.

These ten individuals aren't just breaking the law.

They are dismantling a thousand-year-old empire of fear.

one heartbeat at a time.

Be honest but gentle: Would you click on these BL / Vampire / Omegaverse book covers, or scroll past? 🥺

Hey everyone,

I’m a female indie author, and to be completely transparent... I am currently banging my head against a wall feeling entirely exhausted. I’ve been trying to promote on X (Twitter) by posting snippets, and navigating the absolute silence of publishing platforms is getting so heavy. I honestly don't know where I am going wrong, and I'm looking for some real community insight.

If you are a fan of BL, Vampire Lore, and the Omegaverse trope, please take a look at my book covers for my series, Bloodline & Bonds (shown in the image below).

If you came across these on Amazon or a reading app, would you give them a chance, or would you simply move past?

If you would scroll past, please tell me why. I want to know what is working and what isn't. Please be honest, but please be gentle—my creator soul is a bit fragile right now! Thank you so much for any guidance you can give a struggling indie creator. 🖤🩸
