Kojima presents Jigoku in Rome
Kojima explained in the discussion that the river between the land of the living and the land of the dead in the film inspired his representation of the beach. At one point in the film hands came out of the ground to grab the protagonist. Very nice crossover inspiration that I didn’t know about. The film is apparently available on the Criterion Channel with English subtitles. Here are some photos from the film and the evening. If you’re in Rome, he will be here through Monday night. Should be fun times.
