Hostel doubts

Hey seniors, I just joined UoH for M.tech cse and yet to come with luggage. So, I thought of asking few questions. Feel free to answer any of them.

  1. Do hostels have washing machines?

  2. Where can we dry our clothes?

  3. Is laundry service provided? For ironing.

  4. Which Sim network is the best?

  5. Can we buy bicycle in the campus? Or bring our own?

  6. Are the postal services available till hostel or should we pick on our own?

  7. I got to know my room doesn't get good wifi signal. What is the procedure to setup a wifi router in my room if I bring one? Whom should I ask for permission?

  8. Are the shopping complexes available with stuff like curtains and door mats?

  9. What is the speed via ethernet port in hostel rooms?

  10. Are bikes allowed or should we register it with someone?

  11. How are the electricity blackouts? Is it that we get 24/7 electricity or are there many blackouts and many hours without a generator?

  12. Should I bring my own heater or will there be an ample amount of hot water available?

Honest reaction on hostels

I saw many videos on reddit regarding the bad hostels. So I went to uni yesterday thinking for the worst as the scis campus is in the north campus, which allegedly has the old hostels according to reddit. Luckily I got a brand new hostel. The room was small and 2 sharing. The furnishing isn't completely done. They did the carpentry work though. There's a specific place to keep study tables as they installed some reading lamp and a dedicated ethernet port.

The room is ventilated with 2 windows, one to the out and one to the side of corridor. Ample amount of cupboard was given per person. For us, they gave mattress, pillow and bedsheets. I wonder if they will let us keep them or will take away once the cot and study table comes.

Sorry that I couldn't share photos here, due to people in those pics, I couldn't. Once I receive some pics from friends which doesn't have people I'm them, I'll update you guys.

Are TC and Migration Certificate compulsory at physical reporting for M. Tech in UoH?

I just graduated and my reporting is on 12th August. CCMT portal says I need to take my tc and Migration Certificate along to the reporting. I have given all docs they asked for online documents verification and they said seat is confirmed. I am worried if I can't produce my Migration Certificate and TC at reporting, will they let me join?

What are the diff between M. Tech Ai and M. Tech CSE?

Hey seniors, I've got a seat in UoH CSE and I am trying to get a seat in UoH Ai. I saw that the core courses are same in both semesters. Is that true?

  1. Are the compulsory courses same?

  2. Are the electives same for both CSE and Ai?

  3. If there are any difficulties while we choose an elective, please let me know.

Is it so for M. Tech too?

Saw this comment under a post in MCA at r/UniversityofHyderabad

I was said seat confirmed in online documents verification by ccmt. Will the same thing happen for M. Tech too or just MCA?

About TA duties

Seniors of M. Tech, please clear my doubts.

  1. On an average, how long is the ta duty per day?

  2. Are the students really interested in asking the ta or is it just a post to control students from vandalizing and shouting?

  3. Is it true that 10 hours of ta duty is compulsory or is that relaxed to 8hrs?

  4. What are the ta duties in general? I heard some profs ask you to make their ppt and ask to do some errands for them?

  5. Can some professor ask hod to "assign this student to me" so that students go to lenient profs.?

  6. Do the profs understand we too have some work, research going on and let us leave early?

  7. How is the ta attendance noted?

  8. Are we asked to teach any lecture?

  9. How many papers are to be corrected? Is that too heavy or only less?

  10. Are the ta duties interfering with our exam or pre-exam times? Just to have an idea if we can get time to study for them.

  11. Do we get stipend for whole year or are there any months which shall not be given ta stipend?

  12. When will the first stipend credit? Some said 2 months and some said 3 months. Please give your situation.

  13. How friendly are the profs towards ta?

  14. If at all for some reason you were unable to do ta work for a month and you weren't given the stipend, will you be given next month onwards if you do?

  15. What is the situation of ta who failed a subject?

If I missed anymore important things, please let me know them too...

Thanks in advance.
