Student accom- help!

Hi everyone,

I’m coming to Copenhagen as an exchange student and currently I’m in between choosing accom through canvas at either nordhavn or amager. I’m not sure about Amagers location it seems a bit far away from the night life/ trendy areas.

However apparently Amager may be more social/ more going on? As there’s probably more students here? I do want something definetly more social/ with other exchange people around and students around.

Has anyone got any info on either? It would be very much appreciated!

Student accom - help!

Hi everyone,

I’m coming to Copenhagen as an exchange student and currently I’m in between choosing accom through canvas at either nordhavn or amager. I’m not sure about Amagers location it seems a bit further away from the night life/ trendy areas, although apparently it’s around the same time to get into norrebro/vesterbro/ inner city from either place jsut a few min difference. Nordhavn just looks a bit like there’s more going on around a bit, Amager looks a bit isolated and suburban, is there anything close like to go out if you don’t wan to go into city! Do people stay around there are usually always go into city?

The main thing is the social aspect. which would be more social? Does amager have more students?/ more popular for exchange students? I do want something definetly more social/ with other exchange people around.

Has anyone got any info on either? It would be very much appreciated!

Student accomodation

Hi everyone,

I’m an exchange student coming to Copenhagen for the autumn semester and I’ve been offered a room at UMEUS Valby through the Housing Foundation. I only have 3 days to decide whether to accept it.

UMEUS Valby

Contract: 15 July – 31 January
I’ll only be in Copenhagen from 18 August until the end of December
Rent: 7,345 DKK/month
This means I’d be paying for about a month before I arrive and a month after I leave.

I’m also considering Canvas Living Nordhavn:

Rent: 8,350 DKK/month
Likely contract: 1 August – 31 January
I’d still be paying for January after leaving, although I’m not sure whether Canvas is more flexible with early termination (probably not).

My main concern with UMEUS/Housing Foundation is that I’ve read a lot of stories about strict move-out inspections, cleaning fees, and deposit deductions. I’m not sure how common this actually is.

What I’m looking for:

A social/student atmosphere
Opportunities to meet exchange and international students

From what I’ve read, UMEUS seems very community-oriented and dorm-like, but I’m not sure how Canvas Nordhavn compares.

If Canvas offers a similar social environment, more flexibility with contracts, or is generally easier to deal with regarding deposits and move-out, I’d definitely consider paying the extra cost.

What do you guys think? Anyone with experience at either place?

Student accommodation

I am exchange student and just got a spot for UMEUS Valby, I have three days to take it. But I am also thinking of applying for Nordhavn Canvas housing. I dont know which one I should take. I dont have much time since I have to accept the UMEUS one. I appleid throguhousing foundation for UMEUS ,and I just heard a lot of negative things of them trying to keep your deposit, being strict about cleaning fees, etc. And also the contract date would be starting on July 15 until Jan 31. When I woudl only by moving in August 18. and leaving end of December. I understand they are ti flexible with changing the dates, but these is two months extra. Nordhaven one woudl similarly be from August st- Jan 31. The Canvas Nordhavn one would also be more expensive (8,350DKK), whereas UMEUS in 7,345DKK. soeven though contract start date is earlier for UMEUS starting on the 15th, I woudl still be saving some money with UMEUS if contract dates for CANVAS are also very fixed dates. However maybe CANVAS is more reliable and they dont try to screw me over with the deposit and deduct from my deposit.

What should I do? I want something social, student vibes, I dont know what either is like. I know UMEUS is liek student dorms, is nordhavn Canvs similar?

can I retake an e exam?

So I had my online exam yesterday. I did it after work. we had 24 hours to complete. im not sure if it was a mix of the internet, software, or just my computer tweaking out, but I lost a lot of time, around 30-40 minutes stuffing around with the typing, it woudnt show, or it woudl take ages to load, so basically I rushed a lot of it and I didn't even get to finish all the question on the exam. I'm really annoyed because I also didn't take an y pictures or call anyone, or try to research problems, because I was scared of losing even more credit if I stopped to deal with the issue instead of doing whatever I can within the situation. But I should have just stopped but it was not under normal circumstances, but also now I dont really have any proof. right now its the day after, my exam is been submitted, I want to write to my unit coordinator or maybe apply under special consideration? I'm not sure if there snatching that can be done in this situation but if there is any chance of either taking a different exam, or literally anything I want to do that. Has anyone had something lie this before? what happened, can anything be done?

Im in second year now? are all units for arts just the same price? mine are all 2,174. Has it gotten more expensive it seem so expensive, I thought with Arts, some units would be cheaper, are there any that are cheaper, how does it work?

Housing options as an exchange student - advice!

hey guys, I’ll be going to UCPH on exchange for a semester. im currently looking for accom options but i need some advice. I know everything is quite expensive in Copenhagen , the max for me would be about 7,150DKK.

Ideally id want something social, something like somilar vibes to a college i guess, with international students, and a good location, not far out of the city.

On the UCPH webpage, it gives suggestions of the housing foundation, KKIK, and S.dk. If im correct, these are administrators and platforms that manage access to dorms? I will look into this but also want to seperatly look at options.

I’ve been doing a bit of research and found these places; Solvegrade basecamp (but apprently this is now owned by DIS- which makes it a bit limited, and mostly specific for american students), but then theres also theres another campus- Basecamp south?

Then i’v heard of Umeus Valby, CPH village- does anyone have any info on these places, whether these would be good options/ if they are options at all?

These are some that chat gave me idk if these are accurate, so an info about them woudl be appreciated:

  • Socialt Kollegium
  • Eler’s Kollegium
  • Otto Monsteds Kollegiet
  • Bikuben Kollegiet

Any info, would be really appreciated!! Also do i seperatly apply to these dorms/ student accom/ or shoudl i just use these admisntration platforms liek KKIK, S.dk, housing foundation? Or can i also seperatly apply to some of the places ive mentioned?

Housing options for exchange?

Hey guys, I’ll be going to UCPH for an exchange semester soon. I was wondering what are the housing options? Ideally I’d want something quite social, kinda like a collegey. I’ve heard of the hosing foundation but apparently they kinda rip you off it’s and the prices are pretty inflated. I’ve also heard about UMEUS Valby, Katherine collegi, solvgade basecamp- do you guys have any advice ?
