Way to go
With the fireworks ban controversy I had no idea what to expect.
It is radio silence.
Proud of our community. Not everyone agreed but everyone knows deep down it’s for the best.

I have two one way tickets on klm from the US to Amsterdam. I upgraded one flight and the price on the other ticket jumped by $30 even though it has a lot of availability.
I’m just looking to do the premium economy. Not business class.
Flight is in 2 weeks, will it go down again?
Also looking at it again it almost seems like it’s not deducting the price I paid to choose a seat already from the price of the upgrade. Perhaps I just need to message them?
I’m currently using Aveda (nutraplenish and the green one) and while it’s ok I don’t feel like anything is amazing and a bottle of shampoo/conditioner is more than $80.
I did lose a bunch of hair because of a thyroid issue and it is growing back so something maybe gentle.
My hair is also turning wavy which is a new thing.
I need moisture but to avoid buildup I think.
Thanks in advance!
I work with a nonprofit Christmas organization to help underserved populations in our area. We serve about 800 kids each year. Some of the donations come in through general donations and some of it with a sponsor system. The sponsors self report value and almost 100% of what they bring in goes directly to the kids/families. The general stuff does not and also some of it ends up being stored for the next season.
One of our dreams is to implement an inventory system for general donations and the stuff we store at the end of each season. I know nothing about inventory management.
Right now, we log everything that comes in with general donations and it's value via a spreadsheet. These items are used as we see fit for the season and the rest is stored. I would love love to have an in/out system so that we can look at our inventory when it is all in boxes as we prepare for a future season. I'd also be open to other ideas for how to handle inventory for an operation this size. I would say we get in thousands of toy donations each year.
Right off the bat, is it possible to use the store barcodes to set this up or would we have to make our own barcodes for toys? Are we able to attach values to the items? We might just find this isn't worth the effort, but I think it is worth doing our research.
Thanks in advance.
Thanks to this group I've been able to find spaces to research the meds and I finally felt like this: If I'd treat high blood pressure, why wouldn't I treat insulin resistance? AND, it's not like I can't stop if I don't like the meds.
I finally got the results back from my labs and sleep apnea test and I have mild sleep apnea along with elevated insulin resistance. I met with my doctor yesterday. I told him I am really disheartened by putting a lot of effort into my health and not seeing any health results. He kindly told me that he disagrees -- that my efforts have likely helped avoid prediabetes, fatty liver, and even more serious health complications, it's just not the outcome I was looking for. Which, honestly I thought that was simply kind and not really a way I've ever looked at things.
He is THRILLED about GLP meds and calls them death preventers. He also has words to say about insurance companies that won't cover them as weight loss drugs or for liver treatments.
I have HDHP and insurance is changing July 1 to a plan that doesn't cover GLP meds. So he has me starting on a med called farxiga that is super affordable. The plan is that it combines well with GLPs and might help me stay at a lower dose of a GLP (more affordable out of pocket) if I do well on this. It supposedly has few side effects (I feel a little off today with the first dose, but I'm also exhausted so it is hard to tell). He said this will have similar impacts to inflammation in the body and really improves heart health and reduces the risk of stroke and developing dementia. We are going to put a hold on the sleep apnea treatment and see if losing a little bit of weight will support me not needing treatment for that.
All of this to say. Thanks for all of the words of support!
I was in a really great space about 15 years ago. Had my gallbladder out and fast-forward I have a complete inability to lose weight. Like gained, no matter what I do numbers don't budge. I can regulate calories, carbs, etc etc etc and nothing changes. During this time I learned a lot about diet culture, disordered eating, etc. I've been offered glp-1 (without anyone asking me how I live my life, what I eat, if I exercise, etc). I'm strong, I workout, I try to recognize when I don't have healthy relationships with food (it is a struggle sometimes) and it's just all so complicated.
I also am treating a b-12 deficiency, am less than optimal thyroid, vitamin D deficiency and while I have had moments of feeling fantastic, I always revert to not feeling "good" (all of these ailments have similar symptoms - fatigue, sleep interruption, brain fog, hair loss, etc etc etc). So all of this effort I put into eating well and fitness isn't translating into better health all around. I'm not even 50. I want to feel good. AND, I mean I want the effort I am putting INTO my health to show up in real life. Because I do make healthy choices for my body and not having that show up in health is a real downer.
I just went to a second doctor. This person says get studied for sleep apnea, tested potential insulin resistance (which we have done), and if nothing else shows up, perhaps just try micro dosing a GLP-1 - even if just for benefits of inflammation. This person is a diabetes specialist (I do not have diabetes) in a family practice. We are still very much so in the diagnostic phase of things. He pointed out GLP1 are not new and he's been RXing them for 22 years.
I have never ever ever ever wanted to try a GLP-1. I've seen the ED and disordered eating that comes along with them and I have had no interest. But, if it is a health journey and I can feel better and have my actions translate to real life improvement in my health, energy levels, etc I figure I need to give it as much research as all the other things I've tried or am even already doing.
Can anyone suggest resources to just simply read more about GLP-1 and people's experience on them without having to wade through the "before/after", ED, Disordered Eating, diet culture, this is what you have to eat for breakfast, BS? I mean medically, I've read the stuff. I tend to want to know how people do with them, without the obsession. My feed is full of this garbage from googling and I'm so super triggered. And, I'm not the kind of person that is going to tell ANY SINGLE PERSON I know about this. Not my family, not my friends. If I make this decision for myself, I'm going to do it for myself because I will be too triggered when people make it about the weight.
