ESP32 Sonos controller update: full library browsing, favourites now playable

Touchscreen Sonos remote running on an ESP32-P4 board.

The Sources screen used to show one entry, "Sonos Playlists". Now it lists what your system actually has:

  • Music Library (artists, albums, genres, composers, tracks)
  • Sonos Favourites
  • Internet Radio
  • NAS shares
  • Current queue
  • Line-in, if the speaker has one

Favourites is the useful one. Anything in your Sonos favourites now plays from the panel, whatever service it came from. Spotify, YouTube Music, radio stations, all of it.

Also recently:

  • 3 player themes, 4 clock faces
  • 7" screen support
  • Accented characters render properly now
  • Lots of stability fixes

Cheap ESP32-P4 touchscreen to control Artisan

My Mac runs Artisan but sits away from the roaster, and I didn't want to buy a Raspberry Pi + screen just to hit CHARGE at the right moment. So I stuck a cheap ESP32-P4 with a 4.3" touchscreen on the roaster instead ,, it talks to Artisan over WebSocket on the local network.

Really happy with my Kaleido M1

I started roasting my own coffee recently and I can’t explain how much this is satisfying

2022 Mazda3 Turbo (45k mi) knocking noise near coolant reservoir, am I tripping?

My turn to share this famous video LOL
here's the video of the noise, let me know what you think. I searched around for similar clips online first but couldn't find anything that matched what I'm hearing, so figured I'd ask directly here :)

Gen 4 Mazda3 brakes lasting way longer than I expected

Living in the rust belt and figured I’d be due for brakes by now. I’m 4.5+ years into owning my Gen 4 Mazda3 turbo with about 70k km, and I went to the dealer today planning to do pads ..maybe pads and rotors.

Service comes back and tells me I’m still at 7mm and the brakes are in good shape. Lol, I was kind of confused honestly.

This is my first Mazda. On my old German cars I was swapping pads every 30-40k km so I just assumed that was normal. Pleasantly surprised. Anyone else getting this kind of brake life out of their Gen 4?
