Daughter picked out her first rifle. The 250th 10/22.

My oldest just picked this out as her first rifle. I added a vortex red dot and I’m looking at suppressors. It’s a lot lighter than my 80s wood stock. It’s a fun little gun to shoot. Any suggestions on cans? I was looking at the off grid scorpius but hesitant to drop that much on a .22 suppressor for my daughter’s first gun.

Threw in a picture of my 10/22 and it’s big brother just for eye candy.

Newbie question

Hello all. I’ve inherited a mini 14. It’s my prized possession. My favorite gun. And I remember my father telling me to never shoot 5.56 out of it that it’s only chambered for .223 but recently I’ve had multiple people tell me that that is wrong. I do not want to damage the gun. I’ve come across different answers on google. I don’t know if this is the target rifle or the ranch rifle as it’s only stamped Mini 14. I know the date is 1982.

Can this gun shoot 5.56?

New Red Dot

Friend gave me an old Tasco Pro Point red dot. I decided to give it a try on the Carcano. Has a very Fallout vibe to it. Seems to hold zero although I’ve only fired it a few times. Looks way better than the cheap Amazon red dot I had on there originally.

XL7 project

Just wanted to share my current project. XL7 (30-06) with a banish hnt 30 suppressor, Harris bipod, and I have a Boyd’s stock on the way for it. Right now I’m just running a cheap old Simmons scope that came with the rifle. Eventually going to switch to a Bushnell R5 I think or a Vortex, haven’t made up my mind on the glass yet. This rifle shoots way above its price range. At least as far as I can tell. I love this gun. Shoots as good as my Savage or my Browning.

Inherited .45

Inherited this 1911 from my father, who got it from his father. I know it’s not fancy. But I’m just looking to see if anyone here has any experience with Stoeger firearms. I plan on keeping it. I also have a .357 Llama revolver. Seem like decent guns? Hard to find much info online. Thanks!

Help identifying old round

Found this one round in my grandfathers things. Doesn’t seem to match any of his rifles. He has several ww1 rifles, and my Great grandfather fought in WW2, so we have a few things he brought home. Is it a military round? Or just an odd round that ended up in his gun cabinet. Thanks for your help!

My Carcanos

Just wanted to show off my Carcanos. I inherited them from my grandfather. I don’t know too much about them so any information would be greatly appreciated. Top one is dated 1887 Brescia. Middle one is sporterized and has no discernible markings that I can see. Bottom one says Gardone 9 27.

Not for sale, I plan on keeping them and passing them on to my kids. I made a post last week about the middle one. I’m going to be adding a scope mount and threading the barrel for a brake. Might as well make it my own.

Threaded Barrel

Hello all, I have three Carcanos, one long rifle, one short, and one that’s been sporterized.

My question is concerning the sporterized one, I have a scope mount ordered for it and I’m considering doing more to it since I have the other two original ones. Has anyone ever threaded the barrel of a carcano? I was considering a muzzle brake. I don’t have pictures of them on me as I’m at work but I can upload them later.

Here is a picture for attention though.

New PB

New PB today on some hotdogs marinated in strawberry Koolaide. Took him home and tried my hand at filet him up. First time cleaning a catfish. Think I did an alright job. He fried up nicely and made a great dinner. Also I added a picture of one I caught the night before, he was smaller so I threw him back. Both were caught on the Saluda river in SC.

First time catch and cook

It’s just now keeping season where I’m at and I caught my first one that I got to keep and cook. Turned out delicious. Nice day on the river. Can’t wait to do this more!

First Cat of the Year

Hello all! I’m somewhat of a beginner. I’ve been fishing the Saluda river in SC for a while now trying for catfish. I’ve caught tons of sunfish and even a couple of bass, but I’ve finally landed my first catfish. I have been doing an experiment with different kinds of bait. Turns out they like hotdogs! I was only able to get this one. He was perfect eating size and if I could have caught a couple more I might have had dinner lol. I will be going back tonight and fishing a little longer into the night. Just wanted to share. Thanks!

First catch trout fishing

Caught this little guy in the Chattoga river in SC trout fishing. Don’t recognize what he is. There seemed to be lots of smaller ones like him swimming around me.
