I’m looking at getting from the Hotel Zone in Cancun to Playa del Carmen, and I’m a little confused by the pricing.

UberX is showing around $120, but if I switch to the Taxi option within the Uber app, it’s only $33 for the same trip.

Has anyone used the Taxi option before? Is the $33 price actually reliable, or are there hidden fees added later? Have you had any issues with drivers, pricing, or the overall experience?

It almost seems too good to be true compared to the UberX fare, so I’d love to hear from anyone who’s used it.

My partner and I are arriving late into Cancun and only need a hotel for one night before heading to our next destination.

I'm deciding between:

• Hyatt Place Cancun – $120 CAD/night
• City Express by Marriott Cancun Aeropuerto – $50 CAD/night

The only things we really care about are:

• Safety
• Cleanliness
• A comfortable bed for the night

We don't care about amenities, pools, restaurants, or anything fancy since we'll just be sleeping there.

Is the Hyatt worth paying more than double the price, or is the City Express perfectly fine for a quick overnight stay?

I'd especially appreciate hearing from anyone who has stayed at either hotel recently. Thanks!
