Westinghouse WGen15000: No Crank, No Click, Completely Dead Electric Start

I need some troubleshooting help with a lightly used Westinghouse WGen15000 that has been sitting in storage for 2 years.

When I push the start button, absolutely nothing happens—no crank, no relay click, no lights on the button, the orange battery light is on as it should be when I have the run switch set to on, and no error messages. I used to remember that when it would go through a startup, you'd hit the button, there was a delay while the button light flashed, then it would crank a couple of times. But the button does not flash at all.

Setup Details:

  • Fuel: Converted to Natural Gas (tank is completely empty, which has never been an issue before).
  • Load: Completely disconnected.
  • Starting mechanism: Electric start only (no recoil/pull cord option on this model).
  • Stored: in my garage

What I’ve Tested So Far:

  • Battery: The onboard battery was replaced last year and is good. I also tried jumping it directly with a car battery and jumper cables—still zero response.
  • Starter Fuse: Checked the 20A inline starter fuse; it is intact.
  • Oil Sensor: Disconnected the low-oil shutdown sensor just in case (oil level is verified full).

Because there isn't even a relay click, I am suspecting a failed start switch/button, or a safety interlock I'm missing?

Before I haul this massive unit to a shop, what should my next diagnostic steps be?

Thanks in advance!

A quick bit of background, part of what I do is design and build Wi-Fi networks for hotels, resorts, etc. I might have learned a thing or two, or at least tricked myself into thinking I have ;-).

I have a Unifi Wi-Fi U6 enterprise in-wall (6E with 4x4 mimo), set to an 80mhz 5g channel. The AP has line of site to the headset and is about 15 ft from my seating location. Wifi in my house is set to non-overlapping channels and the selected channels are verified to be interference free.

Its normal for wifi negotiated speeds to drop when you load them up with traffic. But man, does the AVP fluctuate in speed. Sitting still I see as much as a 1.2GB/s RX rate and as low as 143mbs.

The reason I care about this phenomena, is that the AVP often black screens my mac virtual display while I'm in a phone call from my iphone. Then the AVP drops connection to the iphone and eventually the mac virtual display reappears, with whom ever saying can you hear me?

It only happens with a call from my iphone, not ring central running on the AVP. Any suggestions for troubleshooting? Yes the iphone call is routed over wifi, as verified by disabling bluetooth. I'm wondering if the widely fluctuating wifi speeds are part of the problem, it runs out of bandwidth. Or is it just a bug, as I'm able to take / receive ringcentral calls on my AVP app, while using the mac virtual display without crashing out of the virtual display. When I turn off the virtual display I am able to hold an iphone call normally on the AVP which makes me suspect its a driver/bandwidth possible issue.

I also wonder if ceiling mounting my access point over my head vs using an in-wall AP mounted a few feet above the floor would help the AVP. YES, unifi identifies an AVP as an Ipad PRO 11 reality device.

I own a MSP (IT Company). The AVP pro is my portable spatial office for when I'm on the road. As it solves my screen real-estate problem, supports my software stack natively, and allows me to create a deep work environment to help with concentration. Using the Vision Pro in an hotel room or while living abroad isn't just about "working from a cool spot"; it’s about solving the physics of a mobile workspace. Plus it just damn works, not having to play with HDMI cables constantly moving windows around when the desktop size changes... trying to use the hotel room TV, it just works

The productivity ROI is high for me. I've always been one to look for the next thing in display technologies to help boost my productivity, and more screens equals faster work!

AS a tool none of this works right on the Samsung XR which I also considered, and the halo lens I've used, but other than a game for 30 minutes what exactly do you do with it? The last one the metaquest, okay fine its decent but why do I need to sign into facebook to do work, its blury, and well the AVP nailed it just works.

I do a lot of remote desktop work to computers with multiple monitors. Doing that on a laptop is a major productivity killer as you can't display 2-3 hires monitors at a readable size on a laptop display. So your constantly switching, or zooming/scrolling and you can't have a web page open. So at home I have dual 42" 4K monitors. We also do coding, so an AI session, terminal window and a dashboard for a web service all open a the same time. The real money is being able to bill simultaneous clients so screen real-estate is key.

I find myself working from the couch a lot now, as I'm no longer tied to my office / desk. Or a coffee shop, or my RV in the mountains. I hope apple keeps this product improving. I can tell you tons of work any where types digital nomads should check this out, its a game changer
