Ive been contemplating the threat against the benefit of AI and i find myself to be in a strange middle. I find that its conpletely ridiculous for people to actually create things using AI and take credit or sell that raw output as their own product. I also believe that AI has no reason to be expanding as fast as it is and we could literally rewind a solid 3 years and it’d still be useful. But i still feel like theres alot of interesting ways to use it for art that arent ridiculous.

Personally, im someone who really enjoys world building and i find that its a great tool to test an ideas plausibility and to retain consistency with narratives. But i could never imagine using it to literally write your entire story. I also think it can be really useful for gathering your bullet points into an organized format to easily read later and implement into your greater document.

Another thing i think it could be useful for is allowing solo animators to create less frames but use generative AI to add the missing frames. This can help with getting the idea across to possibly get support and faith in the project. Additionally it could be extremely helpful for 3d artists to blast through the busy work that the process involves. Like almost 50% of 3d asset making isn’t actually art it’s just making it useable. A part of me really feels like correct use of these tools could lead to a renaissance of indie animations or games.

But i cant help but admit that the corporations running the show have no intention of letting this bloom in a healthy way. Im aware of how dangerous it is for evil capitalists to have access to a robot that will do anything they want without having to deal with convincing another human being to do it. Its just frustrating cause it feels like im surrendering myself to this unstable force.

I can also feel myself begin to overuse it and i genuinely dont know whether im dependent on it or im just using the tech at my disposal.

For the past 2 weeks ive been recovering from a median nerve injury that caused my hands to curl up and lose alot of function for several days. Getting a doctor’s appointments was a huge headache and simply getting any advice was awful.

Today i finally got a doctor and i tried to explain the entire thing and they straight up cut me off, did a carpal tunnel test, one of the tests involved PRESSING ON THE FUCKING NERVE (????), and i said please dont.

She then proceeded to back off and tell me, “its just part of the test but i wont do it i guess.” THERE IS NO WAY YOU’RE ACTUALLY GOING TO GASLIGHT ME INTO BELIEVING IM IMPAIRING YOUR ABILITY TO DO YOUR JOB. I HAVE A PERFECTLY REASONABLE DISCOMFORT AND I WAS KINDA EXPECTING YOU TO EXPLAIN TO ME WHY ITS SAFE.

After that she just said that i should wear wrist splints and i probably have carpal tunnel. DID YOU SERIOUSLY JUST CASUALLY TELL ME I HAVE A CHRONIC ILLNESS THAT COULD RANGE FROM MILD RSI INJURY TO COMPLETE LOSS OF HAND FUNCTION WITHOUT ELABORATING ON WHICH TIER IM AT? Like you cannot just fucking say something like that. WHEN SHOULD I EXPECT TO FEEL BETTER? WILL I EVER GET BETTER? Now i forgot to ask these questions but i feel like those questions shouldn’t need to be asked. It should just be stated as an obvious thing someone would want to know.

Im just at such a loss for how awful these fuckers are at their job. Like i get that they’re overworked but holy shit you cant just do that. What do i even pay for when i go to these things. 20 dollars copay plus thousands of dollars a year to get gaslighted and filled with anxiety. Fuck this country
