I started my Honour Mode run yesterday and I'm trying out The Hell Knight build (Lockadin). I did, however, manage to break my Oath of Vengeance almost immediately by failing a Deception check, which ended in a fight, so now I'm an Oathbreaker.
I'm still very early in Act 1 and pretty short on gold, so I'd rather not spend 1,000 gold restoring my oath unless staying an Oathbreaker is going to become a real problem for the build.
Has anyone here played this specific build, especially in Honour Mode? How much of a difference does Oathbreaker make compared to Vengeance, both in the early game and later on? Is it worth restoring my oath, or should I just lean into Oathbreaker and keep going?
Don't let the tough act fool you. He's a lover, not a fighter.
...that Minsc and Boo do yoga together at camp? I love these two.
I've never really confronted The Emperor about his manipulation in previous playthroughs, so I'd only ever heard people say he'd eventually spill the beans if you pushed him. So... my Durge decided to call him a freak during the "seduction" scene.
Damn. That is one heck of an evil Squidward.
It took me seven playthroughs to realize just how much this guy actually sucks. Yeah, I know. Took me long enough.
Hindsight is 20/20, I guess.
Recently went to a friend's place to cuddle their kittens before the little ones left for their new homes. This one almost made it into my bag. 🥺
I'm starting a new playthrough and am trying to decide which Charisma-based class I prefer. Do you have a favourite class (and subclass)? If so, what makes it your favourite? I'd also be interested in hearing any multiclass recommendations, especially if there's a particularly fun or strong combination I should try.
I've previously played a Bard (College of Swords), a Sorcerer (Storm and Draconic), and a Paladin (Oath of the Ancients), and I had the most fun as a Paladin. However, accidentally breaking my oath got annoying after a while.
I have yet to try a Warlock build, mainly because Wyll is my least favourite companion to bring into combat. It's probably a skill issue - I don't really know how to use him effectively.
I'd love to hear your recommendations and what you've enjoyed the most, especially if you've played more than one Charisma-based class.
Edit: Thank you, everyone, for taking the time to answer. I've started my new playthrough as a drow Hexblade Warlock, and I'm really enjoying it so far. I haven't decided yet whether I'll multiclass, and I'm not entirely sure which cantrips and spells are worth picking. So if you have any additional advice, I'm all ears. :)
I'm on my first Tactician run and am nearing the end of Act 3. Yesterday I fought Ansur and had my first complete party wipe on this playthrough. I beat him on my second try, with Tav being the last one standing. My Tav is a blue Draconic Sorcerer, which left her pretty much useless against a foe with lightning immunity, aside from casting Globe of Invulnerability and Disintegrate (which she missed most of the time).
Anyway... I've been thinking about trying Honour Mode after this, since I haven't really had any major issues on Tactician. Am I better off skipping Ansur on that run, or is the loot worth fighting him for? Or will Ansur be the least of my problems, and I'll just end up getting myself killed by gnolls in Act 1? Are there any optional bosses or encounters that you would recommend skipping?
I (F30-ish) have a friend (M30-ish) that I've known since high school. We used to hang out in a larger friend group, but over the years it's mostly become the two of us as we share a lot of interests and we're both the type to avoid drama.
I've always been very open about being aroace. My family has occasionally asked if I thought he had a crush on me, and I've always brushed it off with something like, "Nah, he knows that would be a dead end."
A few years ago I spent New Year's at his place because I didn't have any other plans. He still lived with his parents, who were glued to the TV all evening, so we mostly stayed in his room playing video games.
When he drove me home, he insisted on parking a few blocks away so he could walk me to my apartment. I didn't think much of it. We stood outside talking for a while when he suddenly said he wanted to ask me something. Since he's generally socially awkward and asks permission before almost everything, I just told him to go ahead.
He asked if I was absolutely sure I wasn't interested in being with anyone. I laughed and said, "Yeah, I'm sure." He went quiet for a moment before saying, "Ah, okay. I just wanted to make sure what this was."
My aroace ass somehow still didn't realize what had just happened, so I kept joking around until he awkwardly said goodbye and practically fled. It wasn't until I got upstairs that it clicked. I texted another friend what had happened, and she basically told me I'd accidentally friend-zoned him in the most brutal way possible.
We didn't speak for about 8–9 months after that. I figured he needed space, so I didn't reach out. Eventually he contacted me again, we acted like nothing had happened, and things went back to normal. Until they didn't.
At one point I wanted to see a show in another city and invited him because I knew he didn't have anything planned. We made it into a three-day trip with shopping and amusement parks.
Everything was perfectly normal until the second evening, when he suddenly reached over to fix my hair. When I looked at him, he had the most disgustingly loving look in his eyes. I didn't say anything, but after that I barely spoke to him for the rest of the trip. When we said goodbye on the third day, I didn't initiate our usual quick one-armed hug, but he pulled me into one anyway.
I went home feeling deeply uncomfortable because I thought I'd already been as clear as I possibly could be. Another 8–9 month break followed.
Eventually we'd start hanging out again, everything would feel completely normal, and then I'd notice that look again and know his hope had reignited. Then another break.
This cycle has repeated several times now. The other day we reconnected again after yet another break. We spent the day together playing video games and talking, and afterward he commented that it felt "just like it always has."
This has been going on for about ten years. At this point I honestly don't know what I'm supposed to do. Am I leading him on just by continuing the friendship, even though I've been clear about my complete disinterest in him (or anyone else) as a partner? Is it unfair that I keep him around because we genuinely share a lot of interests? I've decided to stop inviting him to trips, since those trips appear to end up feeling too intimate from his perspective.
I care about him as a friend, but I don't want to unintentionally keep giving him hope if that's what's happening. Honestly, sometimes I wonder if he's watched too many American movies and somehow believes that I just haven't come to terms with my feelings yet. He's also admitted to his parents kind of expecting us to be a thing, which is, uh... stop shipping your son with people, okay?
Has anyone been through something similar? If so, have you managed to maintain that friendship? Any advice?

Hi there!
I'm trying to get all the achievements, so my next playthrough will probably be an Embrace Durge run. The problem is that I always feel terrible making evil choices, so I'm considering playing as a goody-two-shoes until I reach the Tribunal, then fully embracing Bhaal after I've finished all the other quests.
That brings me to my questions:
Is there any reason not to do an Embrace Durge run this way, only turning evil at the very end?
Which companions (besides Jaheira and Minsc) are likely to leave before the final battle? I assume most of them would have high approval by then, but I'm guessing they'd still be pretty unhappy with my decision.
I've already done a Resist Durge run, so I'm not worried about spoilers. Thanks in advance!
My boy Staffan had the most scratchable belly, and it was never a trap. Still miss you, my soul kitty! ❤️🩹
Hi there! First time poster and non-native English speaker here, so please be patient with me.
I've been playing BG3 since late December and I'm currently on my sixth playthrough. This is my first Tactician run and I've started paying more attention to different builds and finding the best equipment for each build. Normally, I give Gale all the lightning stuff to properly fry my enemies, but my current Tav is a blue Draconic Sorcerer and is therefore using most of that equipment. Should I still make Gale focus on lightning, or are there any other fun (and preferably effective) ways to build and equip him?
Any advice is appreciated! 🫡
