I live in South America so there's few good "used" pickups for me to find, saw this one listed for $400 which is, sigh, as good as it'll likely get. It's leather so there's that.

If this is the real deal, I'm highly considering biting the bullet and going for it. Worth it?

EDIT: Sharing more pics below.

Hi there!

Posting from South America, where I don't have too many great options.

My chair broke, and I've been looking for a good substitute that's also not a, uh, terrible eyesore. I'm unfortunately not the biggest fan of the usual look of ergonomic chairs, so I've been dutifully checking used product listings religiously to see if I caught anything designer-ish for a good price.

After a couple of months, my sorry back is asking me to take drastic action.

I wasn't able to find any great deals or the like down here, sadly. The "nicest" chairs I could find were HM Soft Pads, but what I see around are the older versions that don't seem to have reclining backs or adjustable height. They do seem quite nice.

I also see newer knock-offs that come with all the doodads, and, this being South America and all, some options made of actual leather so that's nice.

So what I'd like to ask is...

  1. Is the Soft Pad worth it for my everyday work chair? Assume 8-10 hour workdays.
  2. Is it worth to buy the real deal HM stuff even if it doesn't come with a lot of the adjustable options of a newer model?
  3. Any strong options for high vs low back? I'm relatively short so low doesn't seem like it'd be wrong for me but maybe it's the folly speaking.

Best,

EDIT: Oh, another option is a leather Knoll Pollock executive chair. It's relatively cheap so it's been on the back of my mind.
