My mother was not at home today, and it was bliss.
I didn't have to wear my headphones all day. I didn't have to listen to her breathing through her mouth all day. I didn't have to stay in my room all day with the door closed. I just had a normal day today.
I don't want her to be gone every day, but I wish that were my normal life.
Why does every website say 'login' and 'logout'? It is infuriating.
I genuinely don't understand how people don't know the differences between 'login' and 'log in', 'workout' and 'work out', etc.
'Login' is a noun that would be used in a sentence like 'a new login was detected', or something. 'Log in' is a verb and a preposition.
I do everyday things every day.
Every time I see stupid grammar mistakes, I get annoyed.
I go to the gym to work out. This one is even worse, because of 'working out'. You'd never say 'workingout', so how could it possibly make any sense to say that you 'workout'?
It's crazy that people just can't spell anything anymore.
Edit: I removed a part of the post about the word 'logon', because it was brought to my attention that is actually a valid word. I forgot to add this note when I initially removed that section, so I apologise for that. I am sorry.
Everyone complains about shift-typing, but half the people here type in all lower-case letters
I despise shift-typing just as much as everyone here, but the thing is, typing exclusively in lower-case letters is just as bad.
I'm not trying to be mean or anything; I'm just stating an observation that seems really hypocritical.
What do you think of people who enjoy watching gore?
(Real gore videos — not movies)
I enjoy watching gore, but I still have higher-than-average sympathy/empathy in real life, and it doesn't seem to affect my life at all. In that case, does your opinion change? This kind of content serves a similar purpose to self-harm for me, if that makes sense; but it's not that it harms me — it's more the extremity of it.
The state in which someone left the sandwich toaster
Like, are we serious? 💔
People using hyphens instead of em dashes, and putting a space afterwards are so annoying.
I feel like I've seen a post about this before, but I'm going to post about it anyway.
People replacing em dashes with hyphens isn't the worst part. The worst part is then they don't put a space before it, but do after it. For example:
"That's not his ball- it's her ball".
It should be an em dash. In British English, there should be spaces on both sides. In American English, there should be no spaces.
It drives me insane.
Edit: Reading back on my example, a semicolon would be better, but you get the point.
