AITA for telling the truth??

I’m not the OP, but this situation is about someone I know, and I genuinely don’t know what to tell her.

She’s a 37-year-old divorced woman with two kids who live with her. Her divorce was finalized in 2021, and since then she’s been trying to rebuild her life. About six months ago, a 29-year-old man came into her life and fell in love with her. He knew everything about her past..... her divorce, her children, her responsibilities.... and still pursued her.

At first, she was hesitant. Given her situation and the pressure she already faces from society and her family, she took her time before accepting his proposal. But eventually, seeing his care, love, and the way he treated her kids, she agreed to be in a relationship with him.

In the beginning, he promised that he would marry her. He said he just needed time to convince his family. She trusted him and waited, even though her own family has been pressuring her to remarry.

Recently, when she asked him for a clear commitment, things changed. He told her that he cannot take her home or convince his family to accept her. He admitted he cannot go against them for her. Instead, he suggested that they continue the relationship without any commitment.

What hurt her the most wasn’t just the refusal.... it was how he said it. When she asked for commitment, he spoke harshly about her situation, her age, the societal stigma of being a divorced woman with children, and implied that these were reasons his family would never accept her.

She says she’s not angry, just completely shattered. She invested emotionally in this relationship, believed his promises, and now feels like her world is falling apart. She doesn’t know how to react or what to do next.

So, AITA for telling her the truth that he was only playing her and she deserves better and should walk away, even though she still loves him?

Reddit, what is your most disturbing, scary, or creepy real story?

So this happened to me ... I was at my grandparents house for holi celebrations like it was time when I was doing meet coaching... And i had came home during Holi vacation. So my hostel was like 1.5 hrs away from my grandparents home and the hostel way 15-20im away from my hostel so I opted to stay I'm hostel.

My grandfather was very healthy he used to work around our small amgan garden, plus lift heavy things easily. And he loved me a lot (i was the oldest grandchild) so a day before I was leaving for hostel... I got very sick... like every thing i eat inwas vomiting and I got two injections.... As I was sick and was not eating anything so he asked what I'm feeling like to eat... when I said that I wanted to eat pakodi he and fried them.. like a lot of them.

The next day I felt good and I left for hostel.. before leaving he talked to me about a few things and asked me what I was doing and I was confused cause he was told that I was preparing for neet and all but I let it go cause hey he was getting older and all things.. I left at 11 am reached hostel and did all the cleaning and set my things and fall asleep..

I had a dream of him that he was taking me somewhere and i can't see any buildings.. I asked dada and said that I'm tired on that he was like.. it's ok we will together sleep soon.. we would rest.... He was grabbing my wrist and practically dragging me with him. He seemed smiling a lot .. and I was creeped out so I somehow jerked my hands out of his reach and ran.

He was calling after me, and all.. when I woke up at like 5 something I got a call from my father ( he was in another state because of his job) that dada is dead and he is coming for the funeral.. I was shocked like I had seen him the same day six hours ago and now he is dead??

But the thing that creeped me out the most was my arm hurted a lot for a few days.. now if I remember i don't remember if it was the same hand he grabbed in the dream.. but I still get the chills... If I have had left in dream with him... What would have happened..

AITA for not taking my friend’s side after she fought with her boyfriend over money and responsibilities?

I’m stuck in the middle of this situation between my friend (24F) and her boyfriend (26M), and both of them are expecting me to agree with them....but I honestly don’t think either of them is completely right.

They’ve been living together for about a year. My friend earns a bit less than her boyfriend, so they agreed early on that he would cover a larger portion of the rent while she would handle groceries and most of the household chores.

At first, it seemed to work. But over time, things started getting messy.

From what I’ve seen, she does take on more of the daily chores..... cooking, cleaning, laundry...... but she also procrastinates a lot and sometimes lets things pile up.(I have been with her in dorms and if you won't tell her to clean up forcefully she won't and i always hated that, but hey when you stay with someone that long you just let it be..) There have been times I’ve visited and the place was pretty chaotic, even though she’d been home most of the day, and i had pointed it out many times, but as now you can't just question a person about why they are living like that when they are at their own house..

On the other hand, her boyfriend works long hours and does pay more financially, but he’s also started using that as a reason to not help at all. He’ll come home, complain if things aren’t done, and make comments like “I’m already paying more, the least you can do is keep things in order.”

Recently, things blew up over something small. He can hoke after work and asked if she had cooked or eaten something on that she said that she had eaten something on her way back.. soooo..... He ordered food because nothing was left for him and she brought nothing thinking she would rest a bit and then cook, and she got upset because she had a long day too and felt unappreciated. That turned into a bigger argument about who does more in the relationship.

She says he treats her like a maid and doesn’t value her effort.

He says she’s not holding up her side of the agreement and is being irresponsible.

Both of them called me to handle this situation cause I'm the only no nonsense friend she have but then they called me and vented to me separately, and I can honestly see both sides. She does put in effort, but not consistently. He does contribute more financially, but uses it to avoid any responsibility at home.

Now they’re both asking me who’s right, and I feel like if I agree with one, I’m ignoring the other person’s valid points.

So… AITA for refusing to take a side when I think they’re both kind of wrong?
