Dash cam trouble

I had somebody scratch my car last weekend and the dash didn't pick it up.

On further investigation, I didn't have the parking mode switched on so it was an expensive mistake on my part. I thought it was a plug and play type of thing because camera records when engine is on. I had the dash cam installed by a professional shop. I have viofo A229 Plus.

I have the parking mode switched on and I'm now having another issue, the parking mode is not staying on.

Switching on parking mode and it is not going into parking mode when the engine is off. It is recording fine when the engine is on. When I switch of the ignition off it goes into park recording started and this is followed by two channel recording. It stays on for about a minute.

I have attached the fuse taps and fuse diagram from my manual.

How does this installation look? Is it installed correctly? I'm not sure if the red wire is connected to a constant power source?

Fixing scratches?

I bought a brand new car this year. About 4 weeks after buying it new, somebody scratched it and drove off. It wasn't too bad but looked bad on a new car and it was only €250 to fix. Out of my own pocket though and for someone else's carelessness.

4.5 months later and the same thing is done to me again and I'm raging and I don't know how to go about things this time. Do I ignore it on a brand new car? Will the paint start peeling if I ignore it? I'm yet to get a scratch on the car myself, so it's killing me. But then if I ignore this, what else will I ignore? Next thing I'll have a new enough car looking like pure shit for other people's carelessness. And this isn't normal wear and tear so that's another thing that's killing me. I know these things happen but how much do I let go?

I do have a dash cam but it didn't pick up the incident. So that's another thing that's killing me.

Scratch repairs and different prices

I bought a brand new car earlier in the year and I have had my car scratched twice in 5.5 months and they drove off. So cost is on me.

Even if it was a second hand car, the scratch I got both times would just annoy me as it's not normal wear and tear and I can't look at it.

Both times, scratches happened on the bumper and same side on the bumper. Similar scratches both times, scratches around 6" long, but have slightly more damage this time (just bigger and more scratch).

I got a couple of quotes a few months back and one from the dealership repair shop for €1000. And another was €250. So I'm expecting much the same again this time around.

I went with the cheapest option the last time and the mechanic had the job done in about 5 hours. Is this normal time to fix a scratch and paint?

I received another quote today of €500 from a different place and they told me that they would have to take the whole bumper off and it would have to be repainted and it would take two days!!! So I'm wondering what kind of job was done the first time if it was done in 5 hours. It did look ok to me.

Is it normal to have a huge variation in prices and time for a similar job?

Anyone else just pissed off with how shitty people are?

I had a friend in work and we were very good friends but then he crossed the line and started flirting with me despite being in a relationship himself. He tried to make out he was only joking but he only joked with me and nobody else. Jokes are for everyone in my opinion. Not only that he groped me in work.

I called him out on things and he made me promise not to report him, only for him to turn around, flip the script and report me for the very thing he done to me!!!

Like, how can anyone do that...

Then... I saved so much to buy a brand new car this year after 15 years not having a car. She's my baby and I love the car and the independence. Then there's so many careless people. I've had two people scratch my car twice in the space of 6 months and just drive off. I fixed it the first time and the second time happened this past weekend. Just both times and just nobody cared. It's not a piece of shit to me and it's a scratch that I need to get fixed because I don't think it's a job for a touch up pen. I just don't understand how nobody cares.

Just having a rant and a bad weekend.

I need to get out of giving someone a lift

A few weeks ago a colleague went out sick, and I offered him a lift home from work and would go out of my way to drop him home. I was trying to do a nice thing.

By the end of the first week, I told him I was going shopping after work and he wasn't stuck for a lift, he could use the bus. He asked me to put off my shopping until the day after and get a takeaway instead! So he didn't want to be inconvenienced once during that week.

Even before he went out sick he tried it something similar and tried to get me to change my work hours to suit him.

I don't know why I was trying to be nice while he was recovering because I hate entitlement.

Being Irish, I hate confrontation. So I told him I was using the gym after work (I want to use the gym, but have no motivation yet).

There's so much gym excuse I can use and it's not something I use every day and since I finish work late, he knows I don't have anything else on, so he has asked me for a lift a few times. Now, I have stopped bringing him home. I'm not doing it anymore. I've been dropping him to the bottom of my road and he can get his own way home from there and only if it's convenient for me.

However, one evening during the week, as we were going to my car, he picked his nose. All I could think of was that's disgusting which it really was. I was trying to keep things normal and at the time of picking his nose, I was showing him a picture on my phone and next thing he zoomed in on my phone (I don't know what hand he used). But I took out a sanitizing wipe and wiped my phone straight after that.

I'm someone who is more aware of germs since the covid pandemic and even nose picking from a non sick person sickens me. And then he sat into my car.

I should have put a stop to the lifts a few weeks ago. But am I over reacting to the nose picking here?
