[Uni Student Research] How have GLP-1s actually affected your gut, digestion, and mental well-being?
Hey everyone!
I’m a uni student (and studying to be a dietitian!), and I’m currently working on a research project exploring the real-world experiences of people taking GLP-1 medications—specifically focusing on the gut-brain axis, digestion, and mental health.
While textbooks and clinical trials give us the medical numbers, I’m really interested in the lived, day-to-day reality of what’s actually happening to people’s stomachs and headspace.
Whether you’re currently taking a GLP-1 or have tapered/stopped, I’d be super grateful if you’d be open to sharing your thoughts on a few points:
- Your Gut & Stomach: How has your digestion actually handled the medication? Have you experienced changes in bloating, motility, acid reflux, or food intolerances? If you've come off it, how did your stomach adjust during the transition?
- Mental Health & Food Noise: How has the drug (and the physical changes in your gut) impacted your mood, stress, or relationship with food?
- The Reason You Started: What was the main catalyst or motivation that made you choose to start a GLP-1 in the first place?
This is just for my uni work to help build a better understanding of the patient experience from a nutrition perspective. I’m not selling or promoting anything—just genuinely eager to learn from your insights!
Thanks so much to anyone who shares! 🙏
