How are stocks not a ponzi scheme?

To start off, I want to say that I don't know that much about finances or the stock market, so correct me if my assumptions in this question are incorrect. The reason people buy stocks is to sell them later at a higher price (assuming they're not buying it for dividends), right? A stock's price goes up when more people want to buy that stock, but those people also want to buy that stock so they can sell it at a higher price later, thus resulting in a loop. It seems that this is just an MLM, you're rewarded for investing early and for other people investing. How is this model sustainable in any way?

I don't like my mother and I don't know why

I'm a minor who has recently found that I genuinely just do not like or like spending time with my mother. However, it's not like a normal bad relationship where I can trace back my feelings of uneasiness to some action or event (she did used to yell at me quite a bit and be very harsh, which ended up partially sending me to therapy, but that was a while ago, so it shouldn't affect me now). I just genuinely dislike her in the same way I would dislike an annoying classmate. I find her boring and annoying, draining to be around, and just overall not a good time. 80% of the previous relational problems which I would have attributed this to have been mostly resolved, so what's going on?

What was the message of Starship Troopers?

I just finished watching ST for the first time, and was wondering what the message was. There seems to be a sort of vague anti-war message, but it's not really the focus. The ending of the movie also provided no help, being really abrupt and inconclusive (I don't know if that's some sort of metal storytelling about how war has no satisfying endings or what). Is there some deeper moral I'm missing?

Why do the worst people always end up with the most friends?

It's possible this is some form of survivorship bias, but it feels like the most shallow, rude, and petty people always end up with like 8 or 9 friends. Am I crazy? Why does this happen?
