I can see the vision of our new FO

Based on our drafting and recent trade move, I think it's pretty clear how our FO wants to build around Coop, and I LOVE IT. Masai's love for jumbo wings with huge potential (Morez) and Schmitz' eye for lesser-known international talent (De Larrea, Biberovic) could pay off huge.

I could see us making a big push for the play-in this year and as the guys develop, eventually having an elite switchable defensive roster around Coop when he contends. I'm excited for the International Mavs!

Sitcoms / TV Comedies that produced multiple future Oscar nominees in the cast AND crew?

I was recently reading an article about Oscar nominees and big stars who were part of sitcoms before they were nominees. Essentially tv sitcoms that were a hotbed of future talent both in front AND behind the camera.

Take for example, The Mary Tyler Moore Show. They have 2 acting nominees (Mary Tyler Moore and Cloris Leachman) AND two future Screenplay nominees in James L. Brooks and Allan Burns. Then Brooks goes on to create Taxi, which has future nominees Sakai and DeVito for Best Picture, and a future acting nominee in Hirsch. They also had

Another one I found were Happy Days with Ron Howard and Pat Morita as future nominees for Directing and Acting, respectively. They also had writers Mandel and Ganz who were later Oscar nominated for Splash.

My question to y'all is, what other shows can you think of like this? What shows that have already come out could you see having multiple nominees in the future?

Eternals / Celestials referenced in X-Men Season 2 trailer!

In the most recent Marvel Studios Legends: Apocalypse trailer, I saw the Celestials depicted on some sort of mural, that is pretty similar to the MCU-aesthetic of the Celestials / Eternals. See the screen grab above. This looks to be a reference to Apocalypse's comic origins of using Celestial tech.

This got me thinking, could we potentially get some Eternals cameos in X-Men 97 Season 2? I think it would be an awesome cameo opportunity like Spider-Man and Cap in Season 1, and could tie in easily because both are connected through the Celestials.

So glad to see the Eternals still being referenced in 2026, and hopefully this means we can see some mainline MCU appearances in the future too! Would love your thoughts!

(SPOILERS for END of Episode 8) Why hasn't everyone _______?

LOVE the show, but I had one question after watching episode 8 -

>!Why hasn't Patricia been vindicated after we see that the Masked Guy was alive and rampaging through town? He even attacked the sheriff and was investigated / cremated by the coroner? !<

>!I was kind of expecting there to be more of a reaction / support from the townspeople or even the women who didn't believe Patricia, but that whole incident wasn't addressed after Episode 8. !<

Still holding out hope for the Eternals' MCU future

Hey folks, I'm a big fan of the Eternals characters. Like many, I've been pretty bummed out that they haven't been brought back (yet?) for another film or to cameo in a project.

Still, the reason I'm still holding out hope is because of the cast. This cast is comprised of some of the most talented / successful / well-known actors in Hollywood. They're all working and in-demand actors, and Keoghan and Tyree Henry even became Oscar nominees after the film released,. And Chloe Zhao got Oscar-nominated again for Hamnet too!

I could be totally wrong, but I think Marvel wants to bring the characters back, and just trying to figure out how / who to bring back in different projects. The cliffhanger definitely doesn't help, but I wouldn't be shocked if there were a few cameos in Secret Wars where they won't be as constrained by previous plot threads.

What do y'all think? Would love your thoughts.

Anecdotally, how are y'all feeling about the future of theater-going?

Like many here, I'm super glad to see varied movies doing well right now (Obsession, Backrooms, Project Hail Mary), many poised to do well later this summer (Odyssey, Brand New Day, Toy Story), and again later in the year (Dune 3, Doomsday). This is not even mentioning whatever films come out during award season and/or emerge as surprises through the fall festival circuit.

The last time I personally felt this optimistic in a movie year was 2023, and it really feels like there is a real enthusiasm among folks to go back to the theaters. My family and I definitely got COVID-conditioned to stay home unless it was a movie you had to see, but these days I hear them talking about going to the theater the way we would pre-2019. It's really great to see.

How do y'all feel about the future of theater-going? Would love your thoughts.

The NBA should make the In-Season Tournament rewards matter to the post-season.

A little belated, but looking back on this year's IST, it's pretty impressive that it was both entertaining and competitive, and it kind of gave us a preview of the (West) Conference Finals and Finals match-ups.

I'm not super keyed in to the media / talk show stuff so I don't know if people were talking about it more, but I hope the media hypes up the IST more in the future and pushes the NBA to make the rewards more meaningful to the post-season itself.

Imagine if winning the IST gave them home-court for the 1st round regardless of seeding, or some other post-season advantage that wasn't too crazy. But I can see arguments on that invalidating getting the 1st seed, etc. too.

Thoughts?

How much do you weigh / not weigh high school ranking with college performance?

I was thinking a lot recently about how often one or two highly-ranked players will have a poor or less-than-stellar freshman year and then get drafted in the 20s or even 2nd round.

However, a few of these players have gone on to become stars or star role players. Some that I thought of were players like Jalen Brunson (5-star rating, 2nd round), Jaden McDaniels (5-star rating, 28th overall), and Jalen Johnson (5-star rating, 20th overall).

Do you put a lot of weight on the high school rating of these players? Are there under-performing players in the current draft who could have success like the above players?

Re-post from a Feb. 2026 Passer - Some reassurance for anyone who may be struggling right now

Hello folks, hope you're all doing great. I just wanted to make this post for anyone who may be struggling right now with their prep, trying to triage, or just needs to re-think their prep.

This was around the time during my prep for F2026 when I was REALLY struggling, so I wanted to make this post for anyone who feels like they may be in the same boat.

The first thing I want to say, is that YOU'RE FINE. Regardless of how behind you may think you are, YOU ARE FINE.

At this point in my prep, I was literally spiraling. Read this post if you really want to see how bad things were for me. Despite all of this, with the advice I got and some careful reassessments of my prep, I was able to pass the exam. YOU CAN DO THIS.

I used Themis, Prof. Basick's books, and Adaptibar. Here is my unsolicited advice. Feel free to disregard any / all of it:

  • Focus your studying efforts on the areas that you KNOW will be tested - PT, PR, MBE subjects.
    • DON'T WORRY if you devote a little bit less time to an essay subject. I literally only spent a total of 1-2 days each for the non-MBE subjects, and it turns out that none of them except for Community Property and a little bit of Remedies were tested.
  • ACTIVE LEARNING - Watching lectures and other forms of passive learnings are good ways to start, but you have to ACTIVELY learn the subject by doing MCQs, reciting rules, getting answers WRONG, which BUILDS your knowledge base.
    • The biggest reason I passed (IMO) is because halfway through my prep, I stopped watching lectures for my last 4 MBE subjects and learned them by reading Prof. Basick's MBE and Essay books and getting a bunch of MCQs and essays WRONG.
  • GETTING ANSWERS WRONG IS AS GOOD AS GETTING THEM RIGHT - This may sound controversial, but if you are getting a bunch of answers wrong, I think you are learning as much from the wrong answer as you would be by getting it RIGHT.
    • Don't be dismayed by having a bunch of wrong answers. As long as you read and UNDERSTAND the model answer or answer explanation, you are LEARNING, AND YOU WILL GET IT RIGHT ON EXAM DAY 😄
  • TAKE REAL BREAKS - REMEMBER THAT THIS IS EXHAUSTING
    • I've never felt more tired than I've felt after a long study session for this exam. This stuff is taxing on the mind. Take real breaks, even if it means taking a day or more off from studying. You won't forget what you've learned unless you are studying with a tired mind.
  • IT'S OKAY TO NOT KNOW EVERYTHING - It's almost impossible to know everything you need to know for this exam. There are too many subjects (IMO), and too little time to actually learn everything. And the exam knows it. That's why you can still get points by identifying an issue but analyzing it with a faulty rule.
    • Don't get too dismayed if you miss a few rules along the way. And if you can't remember a rule, APPROXIMATE ONE (MAKE IT UP).
    • Identifying the issue and analyzing it with a rule is more important than getting the rule word perfect. If you can do it, great, but it's not a dealbreaker.
  • IT'S NOT OVER UNTIL THE EXAM IS OVER - This is probably the most important advice I can give, and it's not really a strategy. It's just mentality.
    • On the 2nd day of the exams, I had an absolutely abysmal 1st MCQ session. It felt so bad that I felt like throwing up. It carried all the way to the second session... until I opened my booklet. Suddenly I was looking at MCQs that felt more familiar, and reminded me of concepts I actually studied. I locked in, and answered them as best I could. It's not over until they say pencils down. DO NOT GIVE UP.

MY LAST 2-3 WEEKS OF STUDY

By the last two weeks I had, in my opinion, a varying degree of 55-75% level of confidence in each subject (NOT GREAT, I KNOW). I was feeling pretty low, thinking I was going to fail. I basically decided that I would I spend the last two weeks shoring up what I already knew, and trying to learn a few more things along the way if I could.

My daily schedule during the last 2-3 weeks of the exam consisted of something like this:

  • Pick 2 MBE subjects (or 1 MBE and PR) and 1 Essay-only subject and write out the ENTIRE ISSUES CHECKLIST. I used Prof. Basick's issue checklist frameworks for each subject.
    • The goal in doing this is to basically understand and memorize the entire universe of ISSUES that one subject can have.
      • When you write the checklist out, you are ensuring that you won't miss or forget any issues on the day. Even if you can't remember the rule, you will get points for identifying the issue and you can approximate (i.e. MAKE UP) a rule that you can work with.
  • 35 or 50 MCQs per day, ONLY writing out the full rule for the questions I got wrong.
    • I would stress QUALITY OVER QUANTITY.
      • Even if you only did 25 mixed MCQs in a day, if you really spent the time to understand why you got those 25 right or wrong, you will remember that on exam day.
      • I only did two sessions of 100 MCQs at a time. It did not serve me to review that many questions after doing them, and I only did those sessions to test my endurance. Your mileage may vary.
  • 2 or 3 Essays per day, (based on whether I did more or less MCQs) I only fully wrote out 1 essay per day. the other 1 or 2 would be outlined or just written out briefly.
    • For me, the focus was always on ISSUE SPOTTING. The more issues you spot, the more rules you can write or approximate and analyze.
    • HEADINGS!!! Always have a clearly formatted heading for each issue you identify. The more clearly identified headings and issues you have the easier it is for graders to give you points.
  • 1-2 PTs per week. I didn't do more than 3 PTs on any of the last 3 weeks. For me, the purpose of practicing these was more to get used to the time constraints and unique process of reading through the library, etc. than anything else. I have more detailed PT advice if y'all want it, just let me know.
    • MAKE SURE that you have a CLEAR STRATEGY for approaching the PT on exam day. The first five minutes reading through everything will be overwhelming, but if you have a predetermined process in place, you will be fine.

I made a longer post a while back if you want to read more, or see answers to other questions folks had when I originally posted. I can also answer questions here if there's anything I can clarify, etc.

More than anything, I just want to say you've all got the ability to pass this exam. It's okay to reassess your prep if that's what you think you need, and it's okay to make mistakes right now. Mistakes are the most important part of LEARNING.

Wishing you all the very best with the exam!

Having to purchase your own work laptop?

Hello all,

I had a question for new joiners of a smaller side firm. In the offer I've been told that I would have to purchase a new computer for the role, but that it would be reimbursed. I had two questions:

  1. Is this normal practice for smaller firms?

  2. If I have to purchase my own work laptop, how can I make sure that I'm following all security and file-protection / privacy measures to make sure that the laptop is up to scratch?

Predicted release date?

Like everyone else I am SO EXCITED for GOW Laufey, especially because it looks to be continuing the lore >!that Odin and Atreus were learning in Ragnarok.!<

I was curious if folks who now more about game releases could predict when this game may be out? If they're dropping 20 whole minutes of gameplay, does that mean it's late this year or closer to early next year?

Recouping assets and reloading for the future - How would you do it?

Looking at our future - it looks like we almost have no control over our future draft picks for the next few years, but after 2027 we will still have a 1st round draft pick or another team's draft pick in those years. (2028 OKC swap, Lakers 2029, etc.)

With this in mind, how would you go about recouping or reloading on draft assets for the future? Would you trade away some of our good role players, or take on bad salaries? Or would you avoid either and just go with trying to compete with who we have now?

I personally would love to see the FO take on a few "bad" contracts for 1st rounders, if possible (Poeltl seems like a perfect option for this). I don't think we'll be contenders for the next few years anyways so why we shouldn't take on some salaries for more picks.

I am so excited for the additional lore we're getting from GOW: Laufey

Along with the genuinely amazing combat we saw from the preview, I am SO excited to see the lore drops we get from GOW: Laufey.

One of the small disappointments I had from Ragnarok was >!that we didn't get too much of an explanation of the Mask / other realms lore, aside from it being extremely important to Odin. Although I understand that was part of Loki's choice to break the mask,!< I was hoping the post-game or Valhalla could tell us more about where the story would go NEXT.

Seeing the Laufey preview DIRECTLY address the mask and the implications of different pantheons meeting is so exciting to me. I love the story that GOW 2018 and Ragnarok have built, so I can't wait to see where Laufey takes us, and how other mythologies add to this story.

Post your best theories below! Would love to see where y'all see this story going next.

How would you grade the state of the league / basketball right now?

We've heard a lot of discussion over the last few years about subjects like resting, flopping, tanking, and more serious subjects like gambling, the fragmentation of where people can watch games (streamers), etc.

But if we take a step back - Since 2020 we've had a new champion every year, an amazing influx of talent into the league, great superstar international players, and a highly-anticipated Finals match-up between two of the most storied NBA franchises, with (currently) beloved stars on both teams.

How would you rate the state of the league and game today? Would love your thoughts.

Movies with the most RETROACTIVE Oscar nominees?

Hey folks. I was recently rewatching scenes from Scott Pilgrim, and seeing the cast again made me realize how many of them have gone one to become super successful.

They either became massive movie stars (Chris Evans, Anna Kendrick, Brie Larson), awards nominees (Michael Cera, Aubrey Plaza, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Anna Kendrick (already nominated though) Kieran Culkin, Brie Larson), or both (Michael Cera, Anna Kendrick, Brie Larson).

It wouldn't shock me if Plaza, Cera, and/or Schwartzmann were Oscar-nominated at some point in their careers either.

This got me to thinking - How many other movies exist where the cast was RETROACTIVELY stacked with MULTIPLE Oscar/Emmy nominees AND/OR movie stars (for their work in LATER films)?

Would love your recommendations below.
