From doesn’t have a story anymore

After the exasperation of the last few seasons, I went back and rewatched season one in case I had missed something and the show has always been like this when it struck me that season the first (And maybe parts of season the second?) actually feels like a competent story being told.

Ignore the plot elements and later reveals; Season one feels unique from its later instalments because there feels like a narrative through line is being run between all ten episodes, the climax being the attack on colony house and then the twist reveal of the radio broadcast at the end of the season.

The character interactions all feel so much more natural, it’s refreshing to go back to a time when Sarah wasn’t so fucking annoying, there was decent acting from Tabitha! So many great moments because the writers clearly had planned stuff out for this season and this season alone.

Later seasons don’t feel like they have this through line of a story anymore and just feels like either they are throwing more and more shit at the audience to give the illusion of depth or are very clearly limping to the barn with whatever material they have to stretch things to the arbitrary fifty minute mark.

I would be more forgiving if this was like Lost whereby the writers wanted to end things after season the third but the network wanted them to keep going so they did. But From is literally beginning to feel like a parody of itself, especially in this last season, where the seeds were being sown in season three.

There’s no satisfying narrative being told. It’s just a lobotomised version of storytelling whereby characters are taking and actors… Acting, but it doesn’t feel like a cohesive narrative anymore. Did they shoot all the original writers for season one and then replace them with monkeys on typewriters for the rest of the show?

Script Challenge?

Over the next few years, I'd like to try and create a script for every letter of the alphabet.

Scripts have usually followed themes and ideas that will be explained further below. Here's what I'm missing:
A - Abnormal Antagonism (Finishing a trilogy with other local Storytellers, finding ways to make people more antagonistic toward each other)
B - By the Pricking of my Thumbs... (Wanted to create a script akin to Ray Bradbury's 'Something Wicked This Way Comes' where its strange evil arriving in a circus to wreak havoc on a normal town. Threw Zenomancer in here for a bit of flavour)
C - Childe Roland to the Dark Tor Came (My attempt to make a Tor script), Collective IQ (My attempt on an April Fools script)
D -
E -
F - For a Few Loonies More (Admittedly held together with duct tape and string. Lot of weird characters in this one)
G -
H -
I - In My Defence... (Big Wig script! Something I made specifically with Legion in mind)
J -
K - Knaves Out! (My attempt to make a Knaves script)
L -
M -
N - Noir You See Me... (Very simple idea; What if Blood on the Clocktower was set in 1920's New York? Guilty pleasure favourite of mine)
O -
P -
Q -
R - Really Into Overthrowing Trials (Don't have time for a Leviathan game? Let's have a Riot instead!)
S -
T - The Storyteller Can Play Too! (My magnum opus. This is the best script I've made so far, no doubt. This was made with the sole intent being 'How can I make the Storyteller's life as hard as possible?)
U -
V -
W - Who Looked Outside? (My first script. Also a script that is probably held together with duct tape and string, but the chaos this script also throws games into is so worth it. Took a lot of inspiration from the game 'Look Outside' when making this one)
X -
Y -
Z -

I'm going to try and take my time with these scripts as there's only so many characters and combinations that can be made in Blood on the Clocktower, at least until TPI drop more releases. I'd like to try and make up more Loric scripts but there's probably ones that don't really need a full one dedicated around it. Also need to look at making Teensyvilles at some points. Hit me with some of your ideas! Was looking at making one set in the wild west at some point. Thanks guys!

The Gunslinger

Serious question here… How do Storytellers work around towns intentionally cheesing nominations for the Gunslinger?

Storytold a TB where we had sixteen people, so one person volunteered to be a traveller. Made them a Gunslinger. Get to whatever day it was mid-game and someone nominates themselves stating out loud ‘Nobody vote on this so the Gunslinger can’t get a kill’.

I propositioned a house rule to try and circumvent this from happening (I think it’s very poor sportsmanship full stop as a storyteller and as someone who has been on the receiving end of plays like this) whereby if nobody votes for the first nomination, everyone is considered to have voted, maybe taking too much inspiration from the Jester in Town of Salem. Town didn’t like that idea and promptly exiled the Gunslinger.

I think the better play might be to make the person who makes the nomination considered to be voting for the first round, but then that opens up the can of worms where nobody will nominate until the traveller is exiled and I don’t want to instate more rules saying that travellers can’t be exiled until blah blah blah. You all catch my drift.

Any advice is welcome :))

By the Pricking of My Thumbs… (Final?)

Hi gang,
I’m considering running this script for my experienced group this evening. Any closing thoughts before I print this off? Looking to do Zenomancer too :))

By the Pricking of My Thumbs (Updated)

New version, new characters! Took out the Wizard as I think it may have been too powerful and swapped the Hermit too. Zenomancer has been added for some flavour. Thoughts?

By the Pricking of my Thumbs…

Had an idea for a script where a normal town is invaded by monsters (Real original, I know). Would appreciate overall comments on this as time is of the essence.

Night of the Dead Living v0.1

Yeah this script is probably hot garbage but I like the interaction with death here as a theme. Thoughts on how to make this more good?

First time making a Tor script, love them to pieces so seeking guidance on this one.
They're a little harder to make than I thought they would be, but it got a little easier when I remembered that The Grand Tor has characters that would figure out who they were quickly ala Seamstress and Harpy, Ogre and Noble, etc etc.
Thoughts?
