I was inspired to discuss this after a friend told me their reason for not getting into CSM was Denji's perverted habits, which is totally fair because while CSM is amazing imo, he does have some moments where im just like dude get it together lol. ...Usually more in a pitying way though. But that got me curious about why despite his crude perversion, he's so well loved, specifically by women. Personally, perverted anime MCs are typically just gross and rly annoying to me especially as a girl, but I've never viewed Denji like that. Even though he's sleazy, brash, crude, violent, simple minded, morally dubious, with highly sex driven goals, Fujimoto made him lovable and balanced with moments of softness, compassion, kindness, determination, bravery, loyalty, and deep care for the people he loved underneath. Those other MCs have other traits than just perversion but even so i can never warm up to them like i did with Denji. Anyway yeah just wanted to hear yalls thoughts on what makes him so different, i love Denji and wish there could've been a more satisfying conclusion to such a great character

By dream team i mean like a team/group arc with whatever characters from whatever season you want :) why 12? pretty lame reason lol i was gonna do 10 but then remembered Christa and Omid and almost had an annyeurism trying to choose who to switch out and then i realized that stress is completely optional as im making the post

personally mine based purely on my favs and not the functionality is:

- Clementine, obviously do i even need to explain?? would love to play as her or lee. lol also im gonna cheat and include AJ in this choice because they feel like a package deal

- Lee....maybe my fav character i mourn him daily. cried during every flashback

- Luke!! tbh there wasnt that much to him but i loved luke and his death was major bullshit

- Kenny. im ngl he's genuinely irrational like to an insane degree but ultimately he is the og

- Jane..i was kinda surprised to see how hated she is but i understand. i liked her a lot but the AJ blizzard thing was crazy and inexcusable. It would def stir the pot to have her with kenny but i cant choose between them..maybe Lee's A+ mediation skills could make it go better this time?

- Carley. She's cool and super competent and im a sucker for CarLee

- Javi. I would have loved to see him interact with Luke

- Violet. I just think shes cool and i love her scratchy voice and romance w Clem <3

- David, and i may receive some tomatoes thrown for this but i kinda loved him. I thought he was really complex and well written and i sort of relate to him in some ways. I rly do think he genuinely wanted to be a good father, brother, husband, ect, but he wasn't made to be a family man. Some people just aren't made for social dynamics like that even if it's the norm and they may want it. At many points he's an inexcusable asshole, even if you're nice to him, and tbh whether he deserves (at least my play of Javi's) Javi's consistent kindness and forgiveness is debatable, but his softer moments with Javi made me like him

- probably surprising but Pete. I really really wish he had lived longer. Initially i chose to go with Nick when it came to saving him because i knew he was a lost cause but Pete was a really great character to get to know even for such a short time

- Christa. She was awesome i think she would make a great leader alongside Lee

- Omid...loved this guy he brightened up the game noticeably when S1 was starting to feel excessively grim

HONORABLE MENTIONS:

- Sarah and Carlos. i thought Carlos was super awesome and wish he was more relevant to the story. I loved Clementine and Sarah's friendship and was pretty sad but unsurprised at her death at the civil war museum. I think she was always a lost cause but i very much wish we could have saved her and maybe seen her become more brave

- Marlon. I think he was put in a shitty situation with two shitty choices and the way he dealt with things once it all came out made his actions fully irredeemable, but up until that point he was my favorite S4 character. Maybe not fit to be a leader but it wouldve been great to get to know him more. Marlon was 100% flawed but imo he was cool, friendly (not in a golden retriever way like idk Luke or something but still), and had awesome hair idc what anyone says. I love punky characters

- Louis. Louis is great and super fun but because i spent so much time w Vi i'll still choose her over him sorry man

- Jesus. that guy rules

just finished s2 so PLS no spoilers for 3 and 4!!!!

but yeah oh my god wth. When i saw him in the snowy distance i was like "i knew he'd show up again, i hope he doesn't do anything bad to us because i chose to let him keep the medicine and was as nice to him as i was able to be" WRONG

granted i dont think he intended for a shootout to begin but WHYYYY??????????? he even said we robbed him, which i guess we took his gun but cmon bruh it made the medicine bag choice feel super useless....And then after that i was trying to get Kenny to chill out and being, again, as nice as i was able to because yeah he screwed up big time but then again he seems young and he wasnt the one shooting at us

and look where that thinking got me 🫩 on the floor 🫩 WHY DID HE SHOOT CLEM???? I honestly seriously just dont understand - i let him keep the meds, i called kenny out, AND i dropped the gun, and he still shot me unprovoked. I wish Clem (and Lee tbh as well) were like Bigby and could just crashout and fight people all the time because my god

Im playing s2 for the first time, just started ep3 where theyre in Carver's truck so please PLEASE no spoilers i just wanted to vent my frustrations to the void i guess

But yeah. His mental state is totally understandable considering everything he's been through so i get why he is the way he is but its so hard to interact with him 😭 I like Kenny but he is just genuinely irrational and has, respectfully, usually horrible ideas that usually fail but he's too stubborn to accept any other idea or solution. Even after said failure. In s1 i went along with the boat plan because im always loyal to my video game BFFs even though most of the time, especially after getting to Savannah, i knew it was fucked and it was crazy that he stuck to that plan for as long as he did. In s2 so far this dude is actually a loose screw. I want to keep him happy but he makes it really hard because anytime Clementine, an 11 year old mind you, even slightly disagrees with him he loses it. Again, i like Kenny, but why is he so damn unreasonable and unhinged???

I'm more just ranting because i have nobody to talk about this with than complaining btw, again his mental state makes total sense its just kinda frustrating lol

but yeah hes such an annoying pussy. On one hand i know he's a teenager, living in a horrifying, traumatic reality and has witnessed countless deaths and things that would scar anyone. I can sympathize with that. However on the other hand, when the 8 year old orphan child is more competent and has more balls than you do you need to lock the fuck in. Sorry im really pissed off rn im replaying EP4, at the part where hes trying to confess everything to Kenny and this dude just told me "maybe youre okay with walking around with someone else's blood on your hands but thats not who i am"..
