Does this smell like Terre d'Hermes?

Does this smell like Terre d'Hermes?

I absolutely adore Terre d'Hermes and I love Guerlain L'homme Ideal EDT so much as well. Does this smell like TDH? I don't want to buy it if it's redundant to own both. Thanks so much.

Fragrance wardrobe

Hi y’all! How many fragrances are currently in your collection, and what’s your ideal collection size? At what point do you feel comfortable or feel like you have “enough”?

I currently own 37 bottles, but I think I would be more comfortable around 30, so I’m slowly downsizing and trying to be more intentional with my collection.

Also, do you follow any system/rules when buying fragrances? Do you shop by season, occasion, scent category, or you just go after whatever you like?

YSL MYSLF EDT Intense is getting returned.

It smells good….very similar to the MYSLF EDP, just lighter, cleaner, and more musky. The scent itself is pleasant, but it stays very faint on my skin. You get a little projection for the first 30 minutes, then it settles into more of a clean musky skin scent.

If you like subtle, intimate fragrances with that fresh “your skin but better” vibe, you’ll probably enjoy this. But for me, already owning the EDP and the other flankers made this one feel unnecessary, especially given how soft the performance is. I’ll be returning it.

Terre d'Hermes a good replacement for Sur La Route?

I just polished off my bottle or Sur La Route and am sad to see I can't get anymore, it is one of my top scents. I thought aboutbuying decants of it but I use it more than any other scent I have, so that's not really an option... I have been doing my research to try to find a good analog and so far I think Terre d'Hermes may be the best analog because:

  • Similar citrus-leather-earthy DNA — Sur La Route opens with that tart citrus-green freshness before settling into a leather and grass dry-down. Terre d'Hermès follows the same arc — bright grapefruit and orange opening that evolves into flint, vetiver, and cedar. Different ingredients, same emotional journey.
  • The leather quality is comparable — Sur La Route has that distinctive animalic leather note that gives it body and projection beyond typical LV freshies. Terre d'Hermès Parfum has a similarly grounded leather-earthy character in the dry-down that feels like a natural spiritual successor.
  • Actually performs — Sur La Route was never a beast mode performer but Terre d'Hermès Parfum concentration genuinely lasts. If you loved Sur La Route but wished it projected better and lasted longer, TdH Parfum solves both problems simultaneously.
  • Discontinued fragrances deserve discontinued-proof replacements — buying more decants of Sur La Route just delays the inevitable. Terre d'Hermès isn't going anywhere and the Parfum mini at $33 on Amazon is a low-risk entry point to test the DNA before committing to a full bottle.
  • The niche alternatives fall short — I looked at Creed Green Irish Tweed (too sweet and powdery), Acqua di Gio Profondo (too aquatic, loses the leather), and Tom Ford Neroli Portofino (too feminine, terrible longevity). Terre d'Hermès is the only one that captures Sur La Route's specific citrus-leather-vetiver triangle without veering into different territory entirely.

So what I did for me research was this... I have all of my scents logged in Claude's memory. Claude knows what I like and what I don't like. It knows what notes are my favorite and which ones I hates. So based on my collection / my preferences Claude is suggesting this is the best option for me because of the bullet points above.

Does anyone out there have experience with both of these fragrances and can confirm it's a good analog to Sur La Route? I realize it's only a $33 blind-buy, not a huge chunk'o'change for me. But I am genuinely curious as to how they compare.

AI text is in italics and they are data points for reference. But if you think this is SLOP go ahead and remove it.

Edit: Found conflicting information about Sur La Route online, so opened up a chat with online rep. Waiting to hear back from them. Will update when I know more.

Update: Just out of stock. So much for the internet being right. ;) Online chat rep confirmed it will be back in stock at some point. But I'm still looking for good alternatives.

Any masculine fragrances that are more tea and less citrus than Wulong Cha?

I really enjoy Wulong Cha but I'm wondering if there are any other masculine fragrances that are more tea and less citrus as Wulong Cha is an absolute citrus bomb in the opening. The dry down is more tea but the citrus is still there. Any recs are appreciated.

Does anyone NOT buy from discounters?

I had an iffy/bad experience with a couple discounters recently, and ended up returning a bottle of Baccarat Rouge Extrait and Angels Share. Today, I repurchased them directly from MFK and Kilian, for over $100 more each. I just worried that if I bought them from discounters again, I could have a bad experience again, so I opted for peace of mind. Does anyone do this too, or should I have just tried different discounters?

Anyone ever shopped with Walmart?

Seeing some really good deals online and wondering if anyone had any bad experiences before I buy… some of these I know for sure aren’t in store but it’s Walmart I should be able to trust them right ?

Inexcusable Evil doesnt last?

Its new. Maybe its because its new but when i spray this (3-5 sprays) it lasts 3-4 hours max and has like no projection? I know im not getting noseblind. When i got my nasomatto pardon for the first 1-2 months it was like this too than it magically started performing like a beast. Im just wishing it just improves or shit. Is it just me or did anyone else got some poor projection and longevity on the newer batches?

YSL MYSLF L'ABSOLU. Deserves More Love (For the Right Price)

After a very overpriced release, this did not get the love it deserves.I got this 100ml bottle for around $95 as a tester. I did not have prior full wearings of the other MYSLF flankers, but I smelled them a couple of times and I liked the EDP more as a summer scent. I could not pass on that deal even if I wouldn't enjoy it.

And to my surprise, I really loved it! It's very bright, and I mean VERY bright. Especially in the opening. Loud and spicy from the ginger and bergamot yet airy and strong from the very nuanced orange blossom. Projection is very good. It creates a very airy scent bubble around you and you will be smelled by people wherever you go.

Lasted on my skin for an easy 8 hours, extending past that very frequently. I keep catching whiffs of this the entire wearing which is nice. No nose fatigue here even after spraying directly on the neck/chest.

Easily one of the top 5 in my summer collection.

Does it deserve the $200 retail price? No. It's way too simple and designer-y to ask that price. I would pay $120 max for this.

PDM La Rosee Gray Market Recommendations

Hi all, I’m looking for tried and true recommendations for PDM perfumes/cologne purchases from the gray market. Out of all the fragrances I have tried over the decades, PDM’s Delina family smells the best on me. I’m very sensitive to fragrances, and most others have a distinct “chemical” smell. I’ve looked at Venba, FragFlex, MaxAroma, Aura Fragrance, Jomashop, etc. but the prices do vary significantly for some of these fragrances, and some are sold out.

I am aware of the pink tax and would like your opinions on whether the gray market for these fragrances is legitimate, or is it best and safest for me to just bite the bullet and pay retail. Also, how often do these gray market retailers restock these fragrances? Delina La Rosee is on my list to purchase but it’s sold out currently on MaxAroma - Venba has it in stock currently.

Thank you all in advance!
