Heading to Mexico on a cruise and brought a new decants for variety! lol
Blank decant up top is imagination and the other one below is an unreleased hybrid of mine. I should have enough to cover me for the week.
Since my Guerlain themed night last week went over so well, I figured I’d do a specific fragrance note themed smelling night this time. This was prompted because I’m in a group with the owner and perfumer of Aromas De Salazar, Michael Salazar. He offered us a split at cost of his fragrance Vanilla Is My Love Language, which I’ve wanted to try for a long time, but if you’ve seen the price of the fragrance, then you’d know that it can be a little cost prohibitive….so I jumped at the opportunity to get a 10ML decant directly from him at his cost (which is still crazy expensive!).
Well, much to my surprise when my decant arrived it was in a huge bottle with about 30MLs!!! So incredibly generous of him!
Next, I don’t even know where to begin or how to describe how incredible the scent is!!!! This is next-level beautiful and has officially taken over the top spot as my overall favorite vanilla fragrance!

My wife, daughter, and I were sitting at home kind of tired and just zoned out so I grabbed my Guerlain collection to wake our senses up and give us some energy. It’s amazing how quickly they woke up and started talking about them, ranking their favorites, marveling at ones they had never smelled, discovered new scents they’re now putting in their rotations, etc…
This isn’t something we do often (hardly ever before), so it was a really fun way to break the monotony and include them into one of my hobbies and passions in such an interactive way.

Absolutely wild fragrance! Waiting a couple days for the shipping shock to pass and the fragrance to settle down before really diving into this, but even right now…..Oh. My. Goodness!!!!

Today was a BIG day in my collecting journey! I finally tracked down and received Tolla Pegasus.
I honestly had given up hope that I would ever truly complete the (entire) collection, because Tolla Pegasus was only released in the Middle East (and very scarcely available in Europe). There are ingredients in it that made it illegal to ship to the US, so finding it here is all but impossible!
But….perseverance finally paid off! It was a huge challenge getting this here from the UK, but after a couple months, the seller finally figured it out! I have now completed the entire men’s Parfums De Marly line! As a collector. This feels really good. This isn’t my favorite house, by any means, but they do have so many fragrances I absolutely love, and I can honestly say they don’t have any bad ones.
I haven’t even smelled this yet, I’ve been working all day and I’m filthy and my sinuses are filled with drywall and sawdust, so I’ll wait until I’m clean to experience this and report back.

Argos - Odyssey: The Legend Returns
This is absolutely beautiful perfumery and a top release of the year from any house for me.
Top Notes: Bergamot | Lemon | Clary Sage
Heart Notes: Orange Blossom | Tuberose | Lily of the Valley
Base Notes: Guaiac Wood | Vetiver | Musk | Vanilla
The juxtaposition of bergamot, Tuberose, Neroli, and Vanilla in the opening is unlike anything I’ve smelled before and makes tuberose more wearable for me (I struggle with this note; but not in this). As it dries you get the Clary Sage, Musk, Orange Blossom, and Vetiver and it really starts to round out and warm up.
This will be a killer year round, it’s light enough for hot summers, but deep and warm enough for winter. This is a return to the dynamic perfuming that made Argos really notable from their earlier releases.
So my house is having some serious settling cracks in the drywall and corner bead (it’s a post tension slab, the foundation is fine). I would love a professional’s insight on the best way to go about actually fixing these cracks.

We rarely get an opportunity to get our hands on something SO far in advance of the actual release. Through some deep internal connections several of us in the community were able to secure large quantities of the not-yet-released CREED Iris Debonair (slated for release in September/October).
For obvious reasons not much is allowed to be said about it, but reviews are coming in and this one is going to be a MONSTER upon release!

After many flat releases over the last 5-7 years, CREED has finally returned to their iconic style of perfumery that made them the great fragrance house of the past!

I just got this in yesterday, the release will be at the end of this week and this fragrance is so good. Right off the bat you get a lot of tuberose, Neroli, Bergamot, and vanilla. As it settles you still get all that but some clary sage mixes in with the neroli and you also get a nice woodiness. It’s also STRONG! You could not need a couple sprays of this. I put some on yesterday and it projected all day and it was still on my skin this morning. I’m wearing it again today. This feels like a return to their earlier releases that set Argos off to begin with like TOB, Sacred flame, Adonis, etc….
